More Good Memories For Mb Stables

The Canadian Turf – Grade III

1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st        Good Memories           Mb Stables      Velazquez J R   3/4      1:44.38

Though this looked a tough race on paper this stand out on form made it look more of a formality as he came home a comfortable three quarters of a length clear at the post. Always perfectly placed the result never really looked as if it would go any other way when this classy five-year-old got the squeeze and extended. Now with 8 wins for nearly $3,500.000 this entire did his stud value no harm with another stakes win and maybe a tilt at something bigger before he starts his career in the shed.

2nd       Legit     Bigchief Stables           Geroux F                          1/2        1:44.53

I had a feeling he would run a big race, and he certainly did that from the outside draw. Going into the stalk he wasn’t pushed too hard and at one point looked like he may go on and win but Good Memories was stalking him throughout and had his measure all the way down the stretch. This was a solid run from the consistent six-year-old, another entire that is bucking the gelding trend with some good results later in life.

3rd        State Cavier    Diablo Diablo                Bridgmohan S X  hd    1:44.64

I thought the off track would suit this son of State Police but once he was driven hard to lead in the soft turf he was always going to be vulnerable down the stretch. Sure enough, when the whips came out, he had little left to offer but still fought on bravely for third.

4th        Stop Hammertime     Bears Stable   Bejarano R       1            1:44.68

If you look at these one’s form, it seems to confirm that whether it’s a BTP allowance or a Grade three stakes race it means nothing with regards to what a horse is capable of. The five-year-old has been pretty consistent at lower levels and carried that form through to a much higher grade today without missing a beat. He looks to have taken on some of that five-year-old improvement and could end up getting a race like this before the year is out.
