“Heater” in The Pan American Between Boss Spearman and Hackett

The Pan American Grade 3

1 1/2 on Turf Purse $150.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward

Gulfstream Park Hallandale Beach, Florida

Fans were treated to a fantastic dual between Boss Spearman from John Henry and Hackett from Nakamura Stables on Saturday afternoon. You would think that these two could have decided the issue given that they had a mile and a half to do it, but not today. Both horses dug in and would not give an inch, forcing the dead heat finish. Congrats are in order to both sets of connections for a great race and for a job well done! Dont Ever Try It from Night Rider Stables continued on his storybook tale by running third here, a great accomplishment for the barn seeing that he was taken for only $5.000 back in June. Pinewood Derby from Blazin D rebounded in a big way today in running a close fourth. Much different than his wet track fiasco last start.

Of the rest:

Green Flag from Aer Stables didn’t get the answered prayer the barn had hoped for, but he did run better than many thought he would. It will be interesting to see if he goes back under silks or heads to the breeding shed.

Not a lot of happy folks over at The Sidley Stud tonight. Unfortunately for the barn and for most of the betting public, Zero Free just didn’t run his race and finished sixth in a dismal performance. Nothing to report from the track vet, so I am guessing he simply needed the race after the freshening. It just happens sometimes.

Angel Star from Threshold ran as expected, but did beat one home, so that is a positive. He showed gas for a while, so expect a drop into a realistic spot for his next assignment.

All Star from Ashwood Farms was unable to rebound from his previous poor performance last time and looks to need lesser to have any shot.
