The GP Oaks – Grade II [KYO]

1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $250.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

First of all, a huge congratulations to HRP and GP for managing to run a race without a dead heat, it certainly made a nice change today and meant that the third horse managed to show a small profit.

1st        Dreambits       Mb Stables      Lopez P                      1:42.23

This lightly raced filly certainly stamped her ticket and her chances for the KYO today as she took this race by a length after traveling beautifully throughout. Her pre-race purchase price of $99.770 was certainly justified today and at only 15.2hh I think she still has some growing and improvement to come.      

2nd       Sue Ellen          Serenity Stables          Bocachica Ar                1:42.48             

This second place off the back of a sprint win at lowly TUP certainly shows just how much the return of Serenity Stables could affect the classics this year. They clearly haven’t lost their eye for a good horse or their ability to get it to improve. Watch out for her and the trainer.  

3rd        Janney               Royalty Stables            Gaffalione T    1:42.53             

A solid effort in only her fourth start going on speed and keeping on well enough. She may improve with racing, but the KYO will probably come a bit soon for her.

4th        Diedra                Alydar Stables              Espinoza V          1:42.54             

Her running style beat her today as she got too far behind on this engine with a pace which didn’t stop those in front quick enough. She ran on nicely for fourth but that come from behind style will make her future full of these types of runs.
