Devil Z Looks the Big Chance in NY Stallion Series – Fourstar

NY Stallion Series – Fourstar
6 1/2 furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.00 Fillies Three-Year-Old foaled in NY. At AQU

NY Stallion Series – Fourstar has been around for a relatively long time for a State restricted race, and like most State Bred races, this edition didn’t draw very well collecting only six names at the nomination box. One thing I’d like to mention about the history v today’s edition is one stable that has won this race twice is D J C Racing Stables who shows up today with another pair to contest the race in Shedaresthedevil and my third choice Sherbini. Now, the race itself looks like a big chance for La Canada Racehorses’ Devil Z which has been spectacular lately in mile races. She has only raced at a distance other than a mile once, and that was six furlongs… and she won that. Here’s the field:

Horse                                  Owner                               Odds  SRF

Devil Z                                La Canada Racehorses     *2-1        93

Chicken Queen                   Jkk Racing Stables            3-1        91

Sherbini                              D J C Racing Stables          4-1        89

Used Less                            Maxmillion Farm                 4-1        88

Shedaresthedevil                D J C Racing Stables         8-1        87

Shar Ja Bridge                   Establo Pichon                 15-1        96

Used Less               Maxmillion Farm                  88

Used Less showed her value early and was sold by Establo Pichon after placing second in her second start, a SAR maiden race, for $150.00. Her future was looking grand, even though it took her another three races to break her maiden. The two losses were big-ticket maidens at AQU and SAR and she ran second, and then when she did win, it was a spectacular five-length romp on AQU turf. So impressive, she was made favourite in the $125.00 Key Cents at AQU but finished fourth. Not long after, another big-ticket win at AQU convinced the betting public to make her the heavy favourite in the Grade III FL Oaks, a turf route in which she unfortunately ran up the track. So, back to a dirt sprint.

Chicken Queen             Jkk Racing Stables                91

Chicken Queen was doing pretty well until that last race. She won at second asking at PRX and backed it up with a solid allowance win at AQU. Then maybe went to stakes too soon that resulted in finishing up the track in the $75.00 PARX Future Stars, but she bounced right back from that with a strong third in the $135.00 Any Limit. Then came a $100.00 stakes where she inexplicably ran up the track. She did, however, manage a 91 SRF in defeat.

3   Shar Ja Bridge                       Establo Pichon                83

Shar Ja Bridge had been a fairly consistent dirt sprinter until she tried a stakes race in her most recent race where she finished up the track in the $24.00 ATBA Sales Stake. That she now steps up to this level seems unlikely.

4   Devil Z                             La Canada Racehorses                  93

Devil Z has won half of her six races, but her real claim to favoritism is her second-place finish in the $200.00 Busher, a ‘win and you’re in’ to the KYO stakes race. That race was the finale of four consecutive mile runs in which she partook and won two and was second in one. Today she returns to sprint to add a little money to her bankroll and looks a good chance to do so.

5   Shedaresthedevil                       D J C Racing Stables                  87

Lightly raced Shedaresthedevil with only three races just won a high priced one mile maiden at AQU.

6   Sherbini          D J C Racing Stables                    89

Sherbini comes here off a decent second-place finish in the one mile $135.00 May at AQU behind the streaking Hwin. That race was at a mile, and I would suggest that today’s distance will be a bit more to her liking. She came in third as a deep closer in the seven furlongs PARX Future Stars.
