Sidley Looks to Clean Sweep Gendelman Memorial Stakes

Gendelman Memorial Stakes

RACE DATE: 5/29/2026  TIME: 16:15  DEADLINE: 5/27/2026 3:00 TRACK: BTP  RACE #: 13  DISTANCE: 1 1/16m  SURFACE: Turf  TYPE: Stake Purse: $100.00 – For Three Year Olds And Upward

1 – Port Gibson – The Sidley Stud – McKee J – 124 lbs

The only reason this race is going ahead is because Sidley Stud entered three of the five runners, so it seems fitting they should be expected to win it. This seven‑year‑old drops back from the Grade Two Whittingham, where he ran a fine third, beaten less than a length, and that form far outstrips anything else on offer here. Drawn in gate one with a top jockey aboard, the result looks close to a formality.

2 – Zzzooommm – Mojica Racing – Lebron V – 124 lbs

One of the two runners from outside the Sidley operation, he’s a nice enough sort but has yet to face anything as strong as today’s opposition. His PRX win last time, his first run of the year, had the look of an improving five‑year‑old—and we know how good they can get. Strong works and a good draw make him the biggest threat to a Sidley Stud clean sweep.

3 – Swamp Reaper – The Sidley Stud – Bermudez S E – 118 lbs

The only three‑year‑old in the field, and at a time of year when the weight allowance begins to matter. His form is solid, and he looks a genuine hope. Forget his last run on an off track—before that he was good enough to run fifth in the Fountain of Youth. With the weight break and strong works, he may have a winnable edge.

4 – Cheveley Chateau – The Sidley Stud – Pilares C P – 124 lbs

He appears to be the stable’s third string, but he ran well enough in a small stakes race at FON last time to be considered a chance if things fall his way.

5 – Randomness – Threshold – Castanon J L – 124 lbs

On form he looks out of his depth, but his recent work was pretty good, and sometimes strange things can happen at HRP.

SUMMARY

On paper this looks between Port Gibson and Swamp Reaper, with Zzzooommm holding an upset chance—especially if he secures a clear lead as the only natural speed in the race.
