Silver Hurricane Looms Over Winn

                                 Winn- Grade III
1 1/16 Miles Dirt Graded Stake Purse $500.00 Three-Year-Olds. At CD

Here’s the field:

Horse                                   Owner                               Odds  SRF

Silver Hurricane                 Mb Stables                        *8-5        97

Justified                             Alydar Stables                    3-1        95

Starbright                             TwinTowersRacing             7-2        94

Excavate                             Acber Farms                      4-1        96

Private Money                     Winning Link Stables          5-1        94

Apirana                               Mb Stables                         6-1        89

Art Of Boom                       Nakamura Stables              8-1        95

Firing Squad                       TwinTowersRacing           10-1        88

Reciprocal Rubber             Maxmillion Farm               12-1        88

Haggis Smoothie                The Sidley Stud                20-1        89

Poised                                Mb Stables                       20-1        96

Reciprocal Rubber                          Maxmillion Farm                  88

After winning the $250.00 Rushaway Stakes, Reciprocal Rubber ran last in the KYD. Will have to find himself again.

Haggis Smoothie          The Sidley Stud                       89

Haggis Smoothie comes here three straight out of the money performances but freshly gelded.

3   Art Of Boom              Nakamura Stables                   962

Art Of Boom pushed the lead the first half mile of the KYD and started to fade, then he really quit. So, how about a race of the same caliber but far less horses, so into the Prk where he lasted much longer and now here to try to bring it home.

4   Apirana                    Mb Stables                     89

Apirana got into the KYD by way of three very good races any two of which would have paved the way and an owner who could send whichever he felt. The Derby  went badly for him, but Dan still believes in him so here he is.

5   Starbright           TwinTowersRacing                      94

Although sixth was the best he could do in the Grade II Day Mile Stakes at CD, Starbright only lost by a length in that $750.00 race. Prior to that, he came within a length of three different KYD qualifiers, fourth in the TAM Derby, third in the Davis Stakes and BG Stakes, all in dramatic fashion.

6   Silver Hurricane Mb Stables                     97

Silver Hurricane was within a length of the Prk finishing fourth in that big race. As winner of the Grade I SA Derby, he would have been in the KYD and likely a factor there had he not been in the KD eligible heavy Mb Stables. On top of that, he ran second in the Grade III TAM Derby. Brilliant works for this. He checks all the boxes. It’s just his turn.

7   Firing Squad                       TwinTowersRacing                      88

Firing Squad was spectacular winning the $500.00 VA Derby to get his ticket into the KYD but placed fifth from the gate to the stretch and gave way. Seems unlikely here.

8   Justified                     Alydar Stables                       95

Justified, a deep closer, he suffers from the deep closer plague: inconsistency. Thing about this lad is he always closes, just a matter of to what degree. Last out was to a big degree as he got up to third from thirteenth in the rich Grade II Day Mile Stakes at CD. Similar performance running second in the Grade III Holy Bull Stakes earlier in the year.

9   Private Money                       Winning Link Stables              94

Private Money weakened in the final strides of the Grade III Peter Pan at AQU in the mud was developing well before the mud losing the Grade III Lexington by a nose.

10   Poised              Mb Stables               93

Poised takes a big step up from a third-place finish in the $100.00 Long Branch BC.

11   Excavate                Acber Farms               96

Excavate came from dead last to second in the Grade III Peter Pan at AQU last out. He used the same deep closing tactics to pick up checks in the Grade I SA Derby and Grade III  Withers, but was hit by the dreaded inconsistency in the Grade II Rebel.
