Purse $225.00 For Two Year Olds
Churchill Downs Racetrack Louisville, Kentucky
Berserker Fast from TwinTowersRacing gets the call in this wide open, “throw darts” type handicapping early two-year-old stakes race. A wire-to-wire score at first asking followed by a strong fourth place finish in a stakes, earning a 94 rating gives him the nod Sunday. Luminary from Mb Stables ran plenty good enough first time out and then improved in his second start to win by two lengths in a dominate performance over this track. The extra distance today shouldn’t hurt and there is really no telling how good this guy is. In a race that could be run at an unusually fast pace, it’s wise to make sure any possible late runners are used on your tickets. The best of that group shown so far might be Thirteen from Serenity Stables, as he was left for dead by four lengths at the start of his last race, then came on to just miss by three-quarters of a length while running third. Still a maiden, so demand value, but he will close and the additional ground will help. Under Pressure from Nakamura Stables also got left at the gate in his debut and ran on to score. A real nice run for a less than lunch money $4 purchase. Draws the rail here and will need plenty of luck if he is taken back early or if he again is tardy. With one run under his belt he could be any kind.
Of The Rest;
Atomic Moon, also from TwinTowers Racing is bullet, evidenced by opening up a two length lead while hitting the half mile pole in 45.2 and being under a hold. Early two year olds showing even slight improvement race to race are scary and there is no telling where this guy peaks. Don’t sell too short.
Hawaiian Sun from Our Athletes came out, took charge and won at first asking in New York. Enough time since and good works in tow. Can’t be tossed out without some consideration.
Three Wheels from John Henry was bet down to favoritism in his first appearance and ran eighth in that two furlong event. He then stretched out to five and a half, got hammered at the windows again and also got left at the gate. However, he circled the field and won. That effort and betting action makes him a “must include” on all exotic wagers Sunday.
Dragon Slayer from Winning Link Stables has run two solid races in a row and will take some beating. Like most in a race like this, it’s a guessing game after you hone in on the top few.
Bold Sniper from Barcelona Farms just missed at first asking and then improved to win at Santa Anita, albeit in a small field of state breds. Needs further improvement here, but that’s not out of the question.
Madd Max from Jokerjoes went off as an outsider in his debut, but once he got rolling, he controlled things comfortably and won. Purchased for $126 so the connections are hoping he can step up in this spot and be heard from again. Not an impossible task.
Celebrini from Big Jd Racing is probably another must use in your exotics because of his shown running style when winning at first asking and that is, passing rivals. Certainly can’t leave him off of the bottom of any superfecta tickets with confidence.
Lemon Father from London Racing drew the parking lot and that probably puts the final nail in the coffin for most handicappers, however, if it rains, don’t forget that he is in the race, just maybe don’t look at that half mile time of his muddy track run.
The Stormy Don, also from Nakamura Stables is on the AE list. He broke his maiden at first asking in Arizona while earning an unusually high number for the level. Complete guessing game at this juncture.
Whispering Pines from Mb Stables has been scratched.
