Purse $225.00 For Two Year Olds
Churchill Downs Racetrack Louisville, Kentucky
Bold Sniper from Barcelona Farms received no respect at the windows, but earned plenty of respect in the stretch drive to prevail on Sunday afternoon in The Bashford Manor Stakes. The pilot allowed “Manor” to relax off the pace and then weaved his way through an inside opening, after that it was clear sailing to the wire. Congrats to the winning connections. Three Wheels from John Henry sat mid-pack but only about three lengths off the pace most of the race and then came on strongly to take home the silver medal in a nice effort. Luminary from Mb Stables got a similar trip and was always in contention in the second flight. Solid effort again today for the improving two year old. Celebrini from Big Jd Racing got hammered at the windows and ran fourth in a solid effort in only his second lifetime start. The two year old grey colt obviously has some talent.
Of The Rest;
Berserker Fast from TwinTowersRacing was our top choice and we were loving it as he drifted up in price. “Fast” broke well and pushed the pace the whole way before tiring to run fifth. Look for a slight drop and a score in short order.
Thirteen from Serenity Stables again broke poorly and against this group was not able to make up enough ground to threaten.
Dragon Slayer from Winning Link Stables took a lot of wagering action, but was unable to get close to the lead and ran even the whole trip without impacting them today.
Lemon Father from London Racing as expected got no help from his outside post and really no help at all when he broke last. A learning experience today, expect a drop and a much better performance in his next start.
Under Pressure from Nakamura Stables broke tardily and then sat four lengths off the pace and never made a move from his ninth place running position.
Atomic Moon, also from TwinTowers Racing, as expected broke on top, but unfortunately couldn’t keep it going and tired after the half mile pole to drop out of contention and finished in a dead-heat for tenth. Look for a much better finish if he is dropped to a more reasonable level.
Hawaiian Sun from Our Athletes broke alertly and pushed the pace the whole way before tiring to dead-heat for tenth place.
Madd Max from Jokerjoes broke a length behind the leader, but quickly hit his stride to get into good position tracking in fourth. That was the days highlight for him, as he then lost position the rest of the trip to run last.
The Stormy Don (Nakamura Stables) and Whispering Pines (Mb Stables) were both scratched.
