Cheveley Fog from Barcelona Farms again broke a tad flat footed, but that didn’t matter again today as he got a nice run between horses and won The Sanford anyway. Congrats to the winning connections. Look for this two year old to keep improving, he is off to a great start. The Pilchard Freak from The Sidley Stud ran a good one in second place after getting hammered at the windows. He opened up a couple lengths turning in but got run down late in a solid effort. My Life For Hire from Mb Stables didn’t win, but he ran a credible race in third after the big purchase. Let’s see where he ends up next. Echo Ridge from Alydar Stables again closed solid ground today, but had to settle for fourth place on the afternoon.
Of The Rest;
Bronze Wolf from TwinTowers Racing was our top pick in this grab bag and ran a ok effort today, just missing out on the superfecta. He looked to have ran slightly in spots and didn’t quite have enough to impact late here. One to keep an eye on for sure.
Blood Moon Rising from Nakamura Stables got a little tired with about an eighth of a mile to go and couldn’t impact them any further. Will improve with this run under his belt for sure.
Sacred Star from Serenity Stables took a decent amount of action at the windows and ran in spots today between calls. He will be a better horse next time out.
Georgie One Hundred, also from The Sidley Stud was sent hard from his rail spot and held on tracking the leader until they turned in, then he tired badly and stopped. Expect a slight drop and a run-and-gun effort in his next appearance.
NYPD, also from Mb Stables was a little further back and wide than expected and paid the price late in a race he obviously needed. Tab him for next time.
Colonel Liam from Jireh got in from the also eligible list and after breaking his maiden in his first start on the dark side of the game (the free side) at Penn National, he simply got blown up against these better foes. Left at the gate and then outrun the rest of the way, he made no impact today.
Mi Dragons Ness, also from Jireh broke alertly, but then was outrun the rest of the way and he ran last. He simply needs more seasoning to knock heads with horses of this caliber.
