In our preview we touted the opinion that Barossa Valley towered over the field from a back class profile, but the public didn’t see it that way sending Hotashell to the gate as less than even money. Neither opinion held water in the end as it was Terrifiant Sunset who prevailed over the field earning a hard fought first stakes victory in her twenty-third lifetime start. 

Winner: Terrifiant Sunset (Mb Stables/B. Curtis) Our Dark Knight/Skylon Sunset (Cherokee Sunset) Barossa Valley took the early lead after breaking quickly from post five but B. Curtis never let that one get away and sat on her flank keeping the leader from coming over and taking rail position. Those two entered the stretch head and head and continued that way throughout the stretch with Terrifiant Sunset battling to a neck win at the finish line. 

Second: Barossa Valley (Mo Mentum Farm/R. Bejarano) Cross Of Lorraine/Perfunctory (Nebula Fire) Seemed poised to take her first win of the year breaking quickly and establishing herself as the early leader. Could never open up any daylight on Terrifiant Sunset who pursued her doggedly throughout. The two hooked up in a stretch long battle with Barossa Valley giving way slightly at the very end. 

Third: Chocolate Bomber (TwinTowersRacing/A. Beschizza) Bronx Bomber/Willy Wonka (New York Yankees) Cleverly named four year old filly stalked the two leaders throughout in a good but non-threatening third falling short by a length. 

Fourth: Hotashell (Spb Racing/G. Corrales) Cherokee Devil/Super Heat (Moment Of Madness) Sent off as the odds-on favorite she dropped way back early six lenggths off the pace. Was making up ground in the stretch but never approached the top finishers having too much to do with no one really spitting the bit to help her out.

Preview Pick: Barossa Valley – Second in good just miss effort. 

This was only the fourth running of The Twin Bridges and it was the first win for both Mb Stables and jockey B. Curtis. It was the first stakes win for Terrifiant Sunset and it brings the five year old mare’s careere bankroll to $327.96. With this win following a solid second in the Chicken Fried Stakes sprinting on the grass it will be interesting to see where her trainer takes her next.
