T Boy Racing’s Red Party stretched his winning streak to five with a front-running score in the 17th running of The Quick Call Stakes, earning the first graded stakes victory of his career! Ever since this son of Serpiente Party switched exclusively to the turf at the beginning of the year, he has done little wrong while continuing to improve with each start. The Grade Three triumph boosted his lifetime earnings to $581.18 and marked the sixth win of his career. Red Party recorded the third-fastest winning time in the history of The Quick Call Stakes, stopping the clock in 1:02.20 for five furlongs. It was a breakthrough moment for owner T Boy Racing and jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, who each earned their first career victory in this race. The Mahony looks like the next most logical spot before heading to Kentucky Downs for the Simpson Stakes if this Alberta-bred remains in the turf sprint division. Congratulations to the connections on this win and an impressive campaigning job!

Winner: Red Party – (T Boy Racing, S X. Bridgmohan) This colt looked to have broken a step slow from the gate down on the inside in post two. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan rushed up Red Party to the lead down the backside and quickly became part of the early pace. The early fractions were 22.48 and 45.14. He continued to race two-wide around the far turn with Zombie Eclipse to his inside and Right Noble to the outside. It wasn’t until the top of the stretch that Red Party put his head in front to take the lead. He slowly started to kick away from the field inside the final furlongs with no threat of any closers behind him. The final winning margin was ¾ of a length. Well done T Boy Racing!

Second Place: Zombie Eclipse – (La Canada Racehorses, E J. Zayas) Talk about a model of consistency—this three-year-old gelding hasn’t finished off the board in eight straight races. Zombie Eclipse’s first try against graded stakes company resulted in a respectable performance that showed plenty of promise. He broke extremely well from the rail, allowing jockey Edgard Zayas to establish early position down the backstretch. The California-bred continued to get into a good rhythm around the far turn and was saving all the ground on the rail. Zombie Eclipse was called on at the quarter-pole, however he didn’t show much of a response. He ran evenly down the lane and saved second. Still a very formidable effort.

Third Place: Ideal Candidate – (Aer Stables, T. Gaffalione) First race since being gelded, the son of Political Pressure made a good impression. He settled in sixth down the backside about four lengths off the pace. Ideal Candidate raced two-wide into the far turn with a lot of ground to make up. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione started to ask this gelding to go approaching the quarter-pole as Red Party got the jump in front of him. Fortunately, there was a clear running lane down the stretch to start making up ground. He was still pretty far back at that point with a lot of work to do. Ideal Candidate ended up flying inside the final furlong and running out of real estate late to finish third. This horse is showing lots of promise.

Fourth Place: Right Noble – (Pace With Grace, Jam. Rodriguez) This son of Championship Rounds had a lot to live up to in this race as he was undefeated in turf sprints. This was his first start against graded company. Breaking from the gate, Right Noble showed a lot of early gas and went straight to the lead. He raced three-wide down the backside while establishing a ¼ length advantage on the field. The Ontario-bred kept his lead into the far turn and was slowly giving up ground passing the 5/16 pole. At the top of the stretch, Right Noble gave up his lead to Red Party to the inside and failed to keep up. He faded back to finish fourth. This was definitely not a bad showing by any means.
