1 Mile Turf Graded Stake Purse $200.00 Fillies Three-Year-Olds. At DMR
1st Allow Mb Stables 8-5 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)
It’s unusual for a horse at HRP to step up from a maiden win to a win, even more so a stakes race win, but it sure seems to help if you are Allow coming off a five-length win and belong to Mb Stables. Add in a 1:35 flat turf work, and that is the formula I mentioned in the preview. Didn’t say she’d win but had her at close odds and third. She looks born for speed and, as she showed in her first two races, she was dueling for the lead as soon as the gate opened and carried the fight to the wire to prevail by a neck.
2nd Ice Water Maxmillion Farm *6-5 (HRP) 3-1 (SRF)
Ice Water continued her string of turf board hits as she chased the leaders to the stretch and engaged Allow in a stretch-long battle, closing at the wire but could not overtake her.
3rd Shes A Cougar Iwin Enterprise 5-1 (HRP) *3-1 (SRF)
Well, I presented plenty of reasons why Shes A Cougar should win this race, but as a deep closer, she presented the classic reason she wouldn’t: timing. She ran her race; she ran a good race, but when the pace is a bit sluggish like that, it just throws her timing off, and ;poof; third instead of first. She stalked them into the stretch, but the first two engaged off the slow pace and her closing kick actually passed a couple but left her farther behind the leader
4th Blackbyte Rock Creek 18-1 (HRP) 10-1 (SRF)
Blackbyte had the same sort of record as Allow, but we all placed her farther back because her races were at lower-level tracks with lesser SRF numbers. As a deep closer facing the same uncooperative pace, she gave it a mighty try, kicking her close very late and coming within a neck of third.
