Creepy Romantic from Maxmillion Farm was our top choice in the preview and held off a late charge by his stablemate, Chilled Niagra, to take down the Crosby Stakes on Saturday afternoon at Del Mar. Not only does the barn get “Romantic” back into the gate for the Breeder’s Cup Sprint, they also pocket $320 with the one-two finish! “Romantic” sat a perfect trip right off the speed and took over with a concert pitch move for the big win. Congrats to the connections. Chilled Niagra who got hammered at the windows had a much more eventful journey and had to weave a passage through. Once into deep stretch he tried hard to run down his stablemate, but came up a tad short in a solid effort. Only Way Is Up from The Sidley Stud gunned from post eight and looked like he was going to pull it off until deep stretch in a solid effort. Bronze Crown from TwinTowers Racing ran out of his mind today and must be given giant props for the effort that most handicapper’s reading the form simply could not see coming. He certainly backed up his solid Churchill Downs run and looks to be really coming to hand. Nice effort!

Of The Rest;

Indiscretion from John Henry was held back just off the pace and made a nice move to end up fifth in a better than looked effort. He isn’t too far away now and should be paying dividends soon.

I Want It All from Luz International ran a decent race today and looks to be just a cut below the main contention here. It will be interesting to see where he is placed next.

Stumble from Mb Stables as expected had to come from behind the pace and did so, making a decent move late while showing some guts in dead-heating with a horse flying from behind him.

Wild Girl from Delta Farms made a big move late here while being ignored at the windows. This horse should be put on your watch list and should be paying dividends with any type of a drop.

Electric from Angelos Stable had a tough post and was not able to overcome it during what can best be described as just an even effort today.

Exploration Bay, also from Mb Stables was unable to improve off of his Churchill Downs win last time and only dead-heated for tenth place today.

Gold from Spankys Barn was hard sent early and paid the price as he backed out of it to dead-heat for tenth place on the afternoon.

Superbush from Acber Farms took a ton of early money and ended up being the public’s second choice. Unfortunately he appeared to run in spots between calls and on paper never was able to improve on his twelfth place break during a dismal performance.
