Cailleach Heads Field in The Music City Stakes

The Music City Stakes- Grade II
6 1/2 Furlongs Turf Graded Stake Purse $1,500.00 Fillies Three-Year-Olds. At KD

The Music City Stakes at KD starts off with a devastating declaration for me as it removes my longshot win bet Solar Skel. So that leaves me thinking that Cailleach way out there in post position fourteen will be able to overcome that position and rally to a come from behind win. If she gets there late, then I think Ice Water and Top Nurse will be duking it out for the win.

Here’s the The Music City Stakes Handicap:

Horse                                  Owner                              Odds    SRF

Cailleach                           Jerry Garcia Racing           *3-1        98

Ice Water                           Maxmillion Farm                 4-1        96

Top Nurse                           Our Athletes                      4-1        95

Red Bone                           Angelos Stable                   4-1        98

Wild Water Wagon            La Canada Racehorses      5-1        92

Ava Gardner                      Big Jd Racing                     5-1        91

Sims                                   Royalty Stables                  6-1        98

Allegory                             D J C Racing Stables         8-1        88

Jump Into Action              Diablo Diablo                    10-1        92

Idlingawaythehours          Threshold                         15-1        90

Shes Chasing Me              Mb Stables                       20-1        91

Indubita                              Royalty Stables                30-1        93

Bay Frenzy                         Mo Mentum Farm             50-1        93

Ice Water                    Maxmillion Farm               96

Ice Water won at first asking at no less than SA! In her third race, she placed second in The five-furlong $100.00 Melody Of Colors at GP, also race before last placed third in The 5 1/2 -furlong Grade III Soaring Softly here at SAR. All of this is happening in her first six races.

Sims                      Royalty Stables                       98

Only four lifetime races for Sims and already a stakes win in the $150.00 NY Stallion Stakes – Joy. Most recently she finished fifth in the Grade III Coronation Cup at SAR beaten only a length.

3   Stagger Home           Mb Stables                88

In only five starts, Stagger Home already has a third in The $150.00 Wild Applause SAR, and in the second race of her life as a maiden she ran a closing fifth in the Grade II SA Oaks.

4   Allegory                   D J C Racing Stables                 88furlong

D J C Racing Stables claimed Allegory from Mo Mentum Farm for $16.00 and three races later she’s finishing third in the $250.00 Pucker Up Stakes at ELP,

5   Solar Skel           TwinTowersRacing                      92

Solar Skel was scratched.

6   Red Bone         Angelos Stable                      98

Tearing up sprint turf courses lately, Red Bone just won the $200.00 Galway locally after winning a five-furlongs overnighter at LS as a sort of warm up. Earlier in the year, she placed third in The five-furlong $100.00 Melody Of Colors at GP and third down the pastoral 6 1/2 -furlongs $100.00 Sweet Life Stakes at SA.

7   Wild Water Wagon                  La Canada Racehorses               92

BC Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Wild Water Wagon has only run in a turf sprint race in his life. Now you could say she doesn’t have enough experience, or you could say she is undefeated at turf sprints.

8   Jump Into Action        Diablo Diablo                    92

Jump Into Action won The Grade III Herecomesthebride Stakes at GP and followed that up with a second in the Grade II Appalachian at KEE. Since then, it has been a three-race slump.

9   Top Nurse                 Our Athletes             95

Top Nurse placed second in the Grade III Mamzelle at CD at 5 1/2 -furlongs beaten only a nose. She prepped for this race with a win in a SAR optional claimer at 5 1/2 -furlongs and back in January, she placed second in the Grade III Forward Gal at seven-furlongs dirt at GP.

10   Ava Gardner                        Big Jd Racing                  91

In March, Ava Gardner placed third in the Grade III Limestone Turf Sprint at KEE and followed that up with a dead heat win on the downhill course at SA for the Grade III Senorita Stakes. Prior to the Limestone, she ran off a four-race win streak that culminated with a win in The Melody Of Colors at GP.

11   Indubita                 Mb Stables            93

In her fifth lifetime race, Indubita won The Grade III Matron at AQU, but since then a bit of a dry spell, still you can never let a Mb Stables horse go by.

12   Shes Chasing Me             Mb Stables            91

Shes Chasing Me has had only one turf face in her life, and that was her most recent, a five-furlong turf allowance race at LAD in which she finished second. As far as her dirt sprinting career, she’s been pretty good. She won The $175.00 Jersey Girl at SAR and finished in the money in five other stakes.

13   Idlingawaythehours                      Threshold            90

Idlingawaythehours was purchased by Riggins Racing from Fractious for $450.00. Three unsuccessful races later, Riggins Racing sold Idlingawaythehours to Threshold for $10.00. She has had seven races in her life and ran a spectacular deep close second in the Grade II Oak Leaf at SA, but that’s it.

14   Cailleach               Jerry Garcia Racing                          98

They took my first choice in Cailleach and stuck her in the car park! Cailleach won The Grade III Victory Ride locally and followed it with a fourth in The legendary Grade I Test also here at SAR, a big, enough race for a one-time claiming horse. She came down from doing well in route stakes show off in sprints. The only catch: she has always been a dirt horse. We’ll have to see if she can make the conversion. Her works say she can, unless you think 1:10 2/5b is slow.

15   Bay Frenzy                 Mo Mentum Farm                  93

Bay Frenzy has no stakes experience and has run in only three turf races lifetime, but the two most recent have been turf sprint allowances locally and she won them both at long prices in both.
