Lukas Classic – Grade II

1st        Bank Robber   Our Athletes   Ortiz I Jr             1:47.42             

Once again the odds monkeys proved their competence by making the first and second in this race the two outsiders. This one a three year old working faster than most of the older horses, a grade one winner and getting a weight allowance was sent off the rank outsider for no apparent reason. Enough about the programming incompetence that is behind the odds monkeys though and more about this very nice winner who has struggled a little to make his mark after that grade one success but was certainly on his game today. The pace was strong and he went back to his usual running style off the pace but with the leader going too hard it all played out perfectly and this three year old picked them up readily and strode clear like an odds on favorite. This win could well get him a start in the Classic and he looks a lively outsider .

2nd       Among Wolves             Fabone1           Reyes A A         1:47.70

There is no doubting this ones consistency but it was his running style that got him into second today as he went back off the strong pace with the eventual winner. He was clearly second best but this was a good effort from this four year old who is getting ever closer to his first stakes win.          

3rd        Individuation Mb Stables      Ferrer J C          1:47.81

Some days the default instruction works and sometimes it doesn’t and today it didn’t. This great old warhorse was asked to run far too hard early and whilst on another day his big early lead would’ve been enough, today it wasn’t.  

4th        Polymath          Gdp Inc             Rodriguez A R                1:48.01

Trailed the field and took advantage of the strong pace to run on late for fourth.
