BC Juvenile Turf Sprint – (Grade l)

Purse $1,000.00 – For Two Year Olds

5 1/2 Furlongs – Turf

Keeneland – October 30, 2026

The 12th edition of the BC Juvenile Turf Sprint went to Nuckelavee, who gave Williams9 his first Breeders Cup victory! From an $11.00 auction purchase this summer to a Breeders Cup winner, this two-year-old son of Beast has turned a modest investment into a championship success story! Every owner hopes to uncover a hidden gem and he has become exactly that. Bred by Delta Farms in Pennsylvania, Nuckelavee’s career earnings have jumped to an impressive $727.55 through six starts and now three wins. He has also yet to finish off the board in all six races. Williams9 now joins the list of Breeders Cup-winning owners with this breakthrough victory—earning a place in the record books and giving his stable a championship achievement to celebrate. Nuckelavee stopped the clock for the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.84, after what looked like to be a little bit of traffic trouble at the top of the stretch. This was definitely an eye-catching performance on the biggest stage for horse racing. Not to mention, this gelding remains undefeated on the grass. Watch out for this guy next year. Congratulations to Williams9 on this huge BC win! Hopefully this is the first of many!

Winner: Nuckelavee – (Williams9, P. Lopez) Nuckelavee settled just one length behind the leading group and remained within striking distance while four-wide. He tracked the pace through the turn before finding himself seventh in a tightly packed field early in the stretch. Despite having several rivals ahead of him, this gelding was still only about a length from the lead and began advancing between horses at the 3/16 pole. His rally gathered tons of momentum inside the final furlong as he drew alongside Aint No Dancer. Nuckelavee edged ahead in the closing stages and held off a late challenge from Fakeittilyoumakeit to prevail in a tight finish by a head! Well done to the connections!

Second Place: Fakeittilyoumakeit – (Mb Stables, R. Santana Jr.) This Mb Stables homebred broke fine and went to the back to settle in eleventh racing down the backside. Fakeittilyoumakeit was roughly three lengths off the pace through the turn—finally making his move at the quarter pole. He entered the stretch with most of his rivals still ahead of him and was searching for room to run. The grey found a clear lane with one furlong to go, gaining ground quickly as he advanced to the outside of Nuckelavee. His late surge carried him past Aint No Dancer for second and brought him into contention in the closing strides. Fakeittilyoumakeit finished strongly but narrowly ran out of ground to catch the winner.

Third Place: Aint No Dancer – (Alydar Stables, V. Espinoza) Aint No Dancer tracked the early leaders from a stalking position in sixth and stayed within a couple of lengths of the pace. He moved steadily closer around the turn before jockey Victor Espinoza pushed this gelding to the front early in the stretch. After getting the better of Sparkey, this son of Jung held a narrow advantage inside the final furlong and remained in front until the closing stages. Nuckelavee challenged to his outside and edged ahead as the wire approached. Aint No Dancer fought on gamely but was also caught late by Fakeittilyoumakeit to settle for a narrowly beaten third. This was an extremely solid effort.

Fourth Place: Luka Mafia – (Night Rider Stables, J J. Castellano) Despite a terrible post, Luka Mafia and jockey Javier Castellano broke in good order and saved as much ground as possible heading into the turn. He was roughly three lengths off the lead, running six-wide and started to make his move as the field reached the quarter-pole. This New Jersey-bred began making steady headway down the outside, continuing to gain ground inside the final furlong. His sustained rally carried him past Sparkey in the closing stages to claim fourth. Luka Mafia could not quite reach the leading trio but finished willingly to secure his share of the purse. It looks like this son of The Godfather will have a grass campaign next year.
