BC Juvenile Fillies Turf
1 Mile on Turf Grade 1 – Purse $1,000.00 For Fillies Two Years Old
Keenland Race Course – Lexington, Kentucky
–Composure from Mb Stables got bet down to favoritism and payed her backers well by winning the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf in front of a packed house here at Keenland this afternoon. She settled about mid-pack then started moving in after the half mile pole and got up by a nose for the dramatic score. Congrats to the winning connections and to Paco Lopez for a brilliant race ride. Indian Fatwa from Diablo Diablo was one of our longshot picks and she ran super, just missing by a scant nose on the upset. She also took a ton of late money in the betting. On The Contrary from Greyhound was given the feel good storyline spotlight in our preview and ran another solid performance. Although she couldn’t quite get the storybook ending, missing by only a neck, she ran huge and has her connections all smiles tonight. Its Yesterdays from Blazin D, as expected sat a little closer and closed well to grab the last spot in the superfecta in a solid performance.
Of The Rest;
Silver Champ from La Canada Racehorses was our longshot of the card and just missed hitting the bottom of the superfecta. She came running really hard at the end to force a dead-heat for fifth place and looks to have a solid future.
Yosemite Fear, also from Mb Stables shot out of the gate, made all the running and lasted into the drive where she still fought on well to force a dead-heat for fifth place in a game effort.
Autonomous from Nakamura Stables sat a perfect tracking trip the whole way and then tired in the drive to finish seventh in a decent enough performance.
Local Forecast, also from Blazin D went off at a big price but made a nice move in the last quarter of a mile to catch the eye here. Yes, the race was over by then but the effort was better than looked and should be viewed as a positive sign for the future.
Legendary Shark, also from Mb Stables got further back in the running than she wanted to and paid the price with just an even run around the oval today.
Unquenched from Bigchief Stables went off at a giant price given the poor draw and after settling in sixth place early on continued to fade back during the running and wound up tenth.
Steel Whisper, also from Bigchief Stables was sent along early and tracked the speed in fourth place, then when she made her surge it only lasted for a few strides before she tired and fell back.
Pollard from Royalty Stables was unable to overcome the post draw and simply was only able to tighten up the gap late without being any threat.
All Your Sisters from Mo Mentum Farms tracked nicely for three-quarters and then threw in the towel to only beat one home.
Simple B from Maxmillion Farm broke flat-footed and that basically ended her day as she was never comfortable afterwards, dropped back to last and never put in a rally. About as dismal as it gets for a horse coming off a neck loss in a Grade 2 over the track. She is obviously much better than today would indicate and we will have to see how she comes out of it next year.
China Cat from Jerry Garcia Racing, Rare Allure from Noblepark, Cooperthehooper from Rock Creek and The Loyal One from Nakamura Stables were all SCRATCHED.
