BC Turf Sprint (Grade 1)
5 1/2 furlongs on Turf – Purse $1,000.00 For Three Year Olds And Upward
Keenland Race Course – Lexington, Kentucky
–Nitro from The Sidley Stud was the recipient of a perfect ride today and got a dream run in the stretch to get up and win the BC Turf Sprint in front of a packed house at Keenland on a perfect day for racing. The barn will be opening the champagne bottles tonight. Congrats to all the winning connections! Lava Man from Mb Stables was thought to be the barns best chance in this race during the preview and ran strongly to just miss getting his picture taken. No trouble, just got outgunned to the wire in another solid performance here in 2026. Whoa Bo from Maxmillion Farm was our top pick and ran game today, just couldn’t quite get there after looking like he might put them all away turning into the stretch drive. Another solid performance today as he rounded out the trifecta. Luttrell from TwinTowers Racing should be added to your watch list off a monster effort from the far outside post this afternoon. All the credit in the world on trying to, and almost doing the impossible given the context. Nice job!
Of The Rest;
Stellar Strength, also from Mb Stables ran a big race given the fact that she is a six year old mare facing the boys and even with her mileage she continues to fire wherever she is placed. Nice try.
Because I Want To from Night Rider Stables fell back and then surged decently but just could not do enough to threaten the leaders this afternoon.
No Prince, also from Mb Stables is obviously a nice horse but probably best at two-turns and most likely wants at least another furlong to work with. He ran admirably and could still mature into something really special. Let’s see where he campaigns next season.
Shine To Class from Our Athletes pressed up trying to get closer for a while, then felt the heat and dropped back. She had little left to offer late and ended up a tiring eighth place today.
Douda from Spanky’s Barn dropped back towards the rear and then tried to rally late but just didn’t have enough to charge home late today other than to dead-heat for ninth. He seemed to not quite be himself today and reportedly was the last horse to get off the track this morning, unusual, because this barn usually works their horses real early. Perhaps they were aware of a slight problem? Nothing from the barn or on the vets list to report at this time.
Blueberry from Luz International also dropped back early and then simply could not produce the needed energy to kick home for a bigger placing today. Did show some guts in forcing a dead-heat with Douda.
Frozen Mist, also from Maxmillion Farm came out of the gate with good energy, was taken a hold of and then was simply unable to crank up any sort of a late run this afternoon.
King Speed Party from Winning Link Stables broke last and then never really recovered in a forgettable performance this afternoon as a big longshot.
Beach Body from TwinTowers Racing broke towards the rear and was never able to get back on track after dropping a couple lengths further back after the first quarter.
Solar Lady, also from Maxmillion Farm broke towards the rear part of the field, never looked comfortable at any point and was unable to do anything much on the afternoon.
