KEE Race #4 $150.000 11/2 Turf

3YO+ F&M 121/124 Lbs

Track Record-2:23.48 (Bronze Sabre-2012)

Stakes Record-2:25.96 (Family Myth-2015)

Sunday’s $150.000 G3 Dowager for 3yo+ fillies and mares going a mile-and-a-half over the soggy KEE turf turned into a tour-de-force for A Chorus Line.  The 4yo Talara Steel (o/o Total Knckout) filly, who was bred in KY by Talarya and is trained by Asgar, captured the first graded stake of her career by running the 12-furlongs in 2:33.33 over a KEE turf course listed as “Soft”.

Breaking from the middle of the six-horse field, A Chorus Line was allowed to settle in fifth about eight lengths off of the pace as Lillehammer led the field through an opening half-mile in :49.59.  Jockey C. Landeros must have enjoyed the view from their position as A Chorus Line had exactly one horse beat as the field readied to go down the backside for a second time.

After three-quarters went in 1:15.19 and the field approached the last of their three turns, A Chorus Line exploded onto the scene.  She went from fifth to first in a little under a furlong and simply drew off from her overmatched rivals.  Catnip Crusader passed Lillehammer about the same time as the eventual winner; however, she would have to settle for the place honors on this day.  Ginger Shamanism, last at the first three points of call, passed three rivals, but lost three lengths to the winner and took home the show money.  Completing the order of finish were Maya Caribe, Big Fajita, and Lillehammer.

With the win, A Chorus Line improved to 13-4-4-0 for earnings of $196.060.  She is the first winner of the G3 Dowager from the Asgar barn as well as the first winner of the event ridden by C. Landeros.  Congratulations to the horse and connections on their victory in the $150.000 G3 Dowager from KEE.
