1 Blazing Ruby Asgar Fukumoto D 123 —
Not the best field ever assembled, so that brings this consistent filly right into it. A good third in allowance company last time that was only her fourth start, so she is entitled to be on the upgrade. The ace draw may make it tough as she is light on early pace but expect her to be strong at the end.
2 Ginger Tulip The Sidley Stud Hernandez R M 123 —
Consistent at this level, she has placed in three ungraded stakes so gets away without a penalty for consistent form at this level. This is her first start on the grass so we have to take that on trust, but she has the performances to be a favorites chance from this perfect draw.
3 Matey Red Fox Farms Husbands P 123 —
A stakes winner over this trip and surface she was also good as a two-year-old only beaten a length in the BC Turf Sprint last year. That form probably makes her near the best here, but she has been a little inconsistent so will need her A game to win.
4 Sometimes Sincere Asgar Salles L 123 —
With three of the five runners the trainer will be hoping for a win here and this one looks as good a chance as any. A good winner at CD last time, her turf form is pretty good so will be suited by the track today.
5 Sincere Authority Asgar Moran D 123 —
A half-sister to Sometimes Sincere the pair were first and second in that CD allowance last time so there won’t be much between them again today. The outside speed push may see her lead and she won’t be easy to get past.
SUMMARY
An even looking contest. Ginger Tulip could win this if she takes to the surface, but she will have to be as good if not better than her dirt best to win and it may pay to look at the three Asgar runners. I like Blazing Ruby to be the best of them, but she will need some luck in running. Matey could win this for fun if she is in her best form, but it is a toss-up as to whether we will see that today.
