1 Victory General Invicta Group Llc Bravo J 124 —

This one had been playing around in overnights and showing glimmers of form, but it is only recently that she has found her mojo. She won a PRX claimer and then came to this track to run in Osunitas Stakes where she ran on nicely for third. Her form doesn’t scream Stakes winner, but that last effort showed she wasn’t far off the mark and as the four-year-olds get going on their improvement curves again we can expect further improvement.

2 Free Kingdom Hambletonian Stable Ayuso A 124 —

Now an eight-year-old she maybe a light of former years but she is still competitive and ran a decent time when second in a MTH claimer last time. This isn’t the strongest race so she has as good a chance as any and her experience in what will be a tactical race will stand her in good stead.

4 Creepy Chili Chili King Stables Van Dyke D 120 —

There are lots of reasons this one won’t win but plenty that she can with most of those being little HRP anomalies. With 13 races on dirt and none on turf she falls into that category that she can either blitz the race or trail in last. We never quite know beyond the clues that conformation give us whether a horse will do better on turf or dirt or just be the same so very often we can see a stellar performance when they change surfaces. The other anomaly is the fact that she is a three-year-old getting a few pounds from her rivals and very often that is a key thing at this time of year. So, despite an ordinary year so far, she is probably the best of these on dirt and we just have to wait to find out if that translates to turf.

5 Delorean Wolf Ridge Stables Smith M E 124 —

This six-year-old is a consistent type and that may just be the difference that gives her a chance of winning this. She was behind Victory General in the Osunitus so with the switch in draws you would expect that to be hard to overcome but sometimes with these small field the wide gate gets the push and a soft lead, and everything just follows in single file to the line. If that’s the race engine we see today, then this one can win.

SUMMARY

Well, Creepy Chill could well follow the trend at this time of year and beat the older horses, but we don’t really know how she will act on turf, so it is hard to be confident. The same applies for Delorean who may well be gifted the race by the race engine but once again we can’t be sure that will happen, so it certainly isn’t a given. I will take those as my one-two, but the other couple have their chances depending on what the race engine does with them.
