A Wet King Edwards Could Be Fun

GII King Edward BC Stakes

$175.000 1 Mile Turf Stake For Three Year Olds & Up

2016 Champ: Hes Juiced Up

The GII King Edward BC Stakes is part of the under card for Queens Plate day at WO. This years race will feature a six horse field including super star turf horse Seven Years. The weather is looking wet this weekend at WO which could throw a wrench into some connections plans.

1- Peace In The City (Trained by Mb Stables, Ridden by Albarado R J)

The least experienced horse in the race is Peace In The City. He comes into the race with only six lifetime starts, compare that to the one on his outside of him with fifty nine he loses the experience battle. He has ran well this year but been unable to find the winners circle since breaking his maiden in December. The connections will also be hoping for a firm turf course as he has shown a dislike for off tracks in the past. He has shown he could probably compete at this level just can’t find the win column yet, until he proves he can win at this level I’d avoid putting him at the top of your tickets.

2- Seven Years (Trained by Alydar Stables, Ridden by Moran D)

Even now at eight years old Seven Years commands the respect of his competitors and for good reason. Two starts back he won his first race of the year in the GIII Miami Mile. His race and work times are still very competitive at this level and make him a threat every time he steps on the track.

3- Sweep The Ravine (Trained by Smokey Stover, Ridden by Contreras L)

Along with Peace In The City, Sweep The Ravine is the other three year old in the field. His last start was a very impressive win coming from off the pace in the GIII Pennine Ridge at BEL. The only draw back of that race is he showed a liking for the longer route distances and might prefer those over the mile distance. He does have a ton of talent and will be looking for a hot pace to run down.

4- Inspector Jacque (Trained by Jader Stable, Ridden by Ortiz I Jr)

Struggling as of late after moving barns in April is Inspector Jacques. He started off his 2017 campaign with two impressive wins and then was sold for $250.000 to the new connections. Since then he has had a couple tenth place efforts with a fourth in between. We expect the connections to have figured this horse out a bit better by now and think he could bounce back a bit in this one at least bring home a check for his new owners.

5- Jazz Lightning (Trained by Luz International, Ridden by Husbands P)

A recent $20.000 claim will jump up into a GII for his new owners on Sunday afternoon. He was quickly gelded and moved to the turf. His most recent turf work is very impressive but all we have to go off with this one. He could be a long shot possibility but we are going to skip this one when we go to the window.

6- Twisted Flyer (Trained by Scarletandgreystable, Ridden by Pennington F)

After almost winning this race back in 2015, Twisted Flyer is back again to give it another try. After changing hands last May he has had a resurgence. He has won three of his last starts, all on the turf. Rain is in the forecast which the connections should be happy about. He has never finished outside the money on wet track. If it ends up being a soft turf course don’t forget to include this one on your tickets. He should run very well with the aid of some rain.
