Awesome Again Stakes – Grade I (P7) [BC]
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Admiration Mb Stables Gaffalione T
With four lengths again covering first to last in consecutive grade ones it seems we are back to the close racing after the rabbit racing of the past month. Mb Stables set this race up perfectly with their two horses putting up a trump like wall in the front and making everything else make decisions. Fast out of the gate the Belmont winner shared the front running duties with its stable mate and in the end had too much class for his rivals. Now BC Classic bound he has all the credentials to be one of the favorites for that race.
2nd Rainstorm Fractious Hernandez R M
With a decent draw and back to routes this horse performed up to his second in the KYD at long last. Sticking to the rail the gaps opened up but he just couldnt quicken up to get pass the winner. Its difficult to know which way he will go now but you would have to think the classic will be on his radar.
3rd Soviet Warrior Mb Stables Saez L
Once again we were reminded that the difference between turf and dirt is negligible at HRP with a majority of horses able to switch between the two surfaces without too much loss in performance. This consistent sort kept his stablemate company throughout and at one stage looked like he may beat him but in the end he was out kicked,
4th Delaware Warrior Nakamura Stables Fuentes Ru
Flew home for fourth in his best performance in a fairly light career so far. It seems the gelding operation has worked some magic and he wouldnt have to improve much on this from a terrible gate to be looking to win a race like this before long.
