All Out Blitz Crowned Play The King Champ

GII – Play The King

$175.000 Graded Stake 7 Furlongs on Turf for Three & Up

The GII Play The King stakes at WO on Saturday afternoon saw a full field of twelve load into the gate trying to take their shot at the highly coveted BC points for the BC Turf Sprint. Mb Stables came into the race with two entries, one of which was Venture Capitalist who went off as the post time favorite. But it was his stablemate that stole the show as All Out Blitz was able to take home the crown at 30-1.

Early on the two greys took to the lead with Bronze Saber and Tokyo Secret leaving the gate one/two. Eventual winner All Out Blitz would sit fourth early on with Spicy Ball to his inside and Swamp Fox and Ye Charley to his outside as they entered the far turn. Post time favorite Venture Capitalist would find himself second last and never be able to find his stride eventually finishing tenth.

As they turn for home the backfield would begin to find their stride as the top three began to give way. Tokyo Secret would be the first one they began to pass as he started to fade and would finish the race in sixth. Next was Bronze Saber our early leader who quickly gave way to most of the field and would fall to ninth. With a furlong to go All Out Blitz would split horses, passing Bronze Saber and Sir Mekki and taking the lead and eventually finishing a half a length ahead of second place finisher Swamp Fox who was closely followed by Spicy Ball and rounding out the top four would be Sir Mekki who held the lead briefly late in the race but couldn’t hold on.

With the win All Out Blitz moves into fourth place in the BC Turf sprint points standings and Swamp Fox takes over first in the standings with 13 points thanks to his second place finish. Sir Mekki sits on the edge of making it with his third place finish and four BC points that place him thirteenth at the moment.

Congratulations to Mb Stables and his talented three year old colt out of Commanding on his first GII victory of his career. All Out Blitz stopped the clock at 1:20.41 for the seven furlong distance.
