1 We Lost In Music Alydar Stables Gaskin D Z 123 —
A sprinting filly with real promise. She took the Durante as a two-year-old and came out at three looking like the trainer wanted to go the KYO route as she went over seven furlongs on the dirt in the Santa Ynez and ran very well to be a closing fifth just a half-length off the winner. For some reason, probably because the yard had other prospects, she wasn’t persevered with on the main track and has instead come back to the grass and sprinting for her last three. This gate will give her a nice track into the race, and she should be very competitive.
2 Party Like Its 97 Asgar Moran D 123 —
Clearly the owner had a great 1997 and this lightly tried filly has tried to relive those highs with three wins from seven starts. Her last three runs have been over further, but she comes back to what I think is her favored distance today. Fast and game, it wouldn’t take much from this good draw to see her in the top three.
3 Bedtime Robeth Walcott R W 123 —
Having her first start on turf so it is hard to assess her on past performances, but she has looked pretty handy on the dirt and from the works at least seems to work on the grass. Likely to get back she will be looking for a fast pace to give her a chance of closing off late.
4 Love Mo Mentum Farm Salles L 123 —
Comes back from nine furlongs in her last start in the Regret where she ran pretty well to be fourth but couldn’t get up on the speed when asked late on. She looked pretty good over seven and a half the start before, making all at ungraded stakes level and she looks a good fit for a race like this.
5 Tufts Chili King Stables Moran P 123 —
Sprinted well enough to win over five furlongs in her first turf start last time out but that was in claiming company and she will need to take a few steps up to be competitive here. She will be competitive, but I think a few will be too good for her today.
6 Snow Pea First Flight Stable Husbands P 123 —
Just the four start but ultra consistent in them, she is a promising sort. She last raced on the grass on her debut when a strong second so I think this may work for her today. She is likely to get back from this draw but has shown a good turn of foot in the past and with the right pace she could be flying home at the end.
7 Ginger Code TwinTowersRacing Fukumoto D 123 —
Like all the good ones from this yard she has been tested in good company but as yet has come up short. She sprinted well to win an allowance on the dirt and has looked handy on the turf in her works so I wouldn’t be writing off her chances despite looking a bit out of her depth.
8 Dupixent Night Rider Stables Vives S 123 —
She has been stretched out a few times and done pretty well but I think she is more of a sprinter at this stage and may be a bit of a dark horse here. The winner of the Hilltop last time on an off track if she gets some moisture today, she could well be our winner at decent odds.
9 Crazy Life Nakamura Stables Murphy O 123 —
Though she draws the car park here, she may find her way to the trail and be booming home late, especially if the pace is hot. She has been running on over a mile so may find this trip a bit sharp but had won over five furlongs in the early part of the year running the same style so clearly, she can do it over any trip. If things fall her way she too could win.
SUMMARY
A good competitive little race and whilst it is no BC we may see one emerge from this that can go on to better things. The winner will be hard to find but I am going for the ace draw that We Lost In Music has to be possibly the deciding factor. As for everything else well there isn’t much between them and there are scenario’s where any of them could win.
