7 DMR San Clemente Stakes (GII)
$200.000 3yoF 1m Turf 122lbs +penalties
Hey look at that… I picked a winner that wasn’t 6/5… D J C Racing Stables got the job done in a big way on a big stage with a big purse as Amalfi, dismissed by the public at 23/1 odds, took the San Clemente (GII) by two widening lengths, stopping the timer at 1:33.02 on the DMR firm turf course. The winner tracked pace-setter Taco Impact, but went by as they moved down the lane for the score, with the latter taking the second spot. It was a head back to Point Of Honor in third, then a neck back to Kimbo Star with post-time favorite Table For One closing this one out.
Amalfi is a 3yo bay filly by Que Niagra – El Gran Command, by Command Attention, and she was bred in NY by her owner, D J C Racing Stables. This was her sixth win from fourteen starts, she now has two graded wins from her four seasonal victories and shows lifetime earnings of $358.900. She’s obviously a horse that will be watched through the summer and as we head back here for the 2021 BC. Congrats to the connections!

Amalfi broke alertly, tracked the pace to the lane, took over from there and pulled away to win driving. Taco Impact was sent from the gate, set the pace at all calls, headed into the lane, settled. Point Of Honor gave an even effort, no threat to the winner. Kimbo Star tracked the early pace, lost ground down the backside, improved position through the far turn, one pace for the drive. Table For One was never a threat.
