9 SAR The Manhattan (GI)
$1,000.000 4yo&Up 13/16m Turf 123lbs
The weather was dreary but American Generals kept his hot streak going, taking The Manhattan (GI) by a quarter length, stopping the clock at 1:524 for the soggy mile and three sixteenths and handing Riggins Racing another huge payday. The 5yo bay gelding made every call a winning one taking down his fifth win of the season. He now has thirteen lifetime wins from twenty-six starts and shows earnings of $1,811.880… and has won six of his last eight starts with a pair of runner-up races… quite impressive. Congrats to the Connections!
John Henry’s Diamond Haggis chased the winner around the wet turf course, taking his second runner-up finish, three lengths better than King Luka from the Night Rider Stable in third. It was another three-quarters of a length to Sleeping Giant, that one from the TwinTowersRacing barn. Six lengths covered the field of seven, the turf course was listed as Good, and we had four scratches that included Back Class, Chagrin Falls, Killer Instinct and Sioux Arrival.
