Angel Takes His Chance in Daytona Stakes

Daytona Stakes – Grade III
5 1/2 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Angels Chance Midnight Racing Prat F

The key for this one was finding his way through from the inevitable trail from the wide gate and as luck would have it he didn’t have to go too far back to get where the race engine wanted to put him. Just five length back in last place at the quarter pole the pace was fast enough that the leaders would inevitably fold and just as long as he got a clear path the race was his. As it was the post was in just the right place as his flying finish just saw him home by a nose. His running style will always make it tough for him as he found out in an Allowance in his last start but when things go right for him he is a very good sprinter indeed.

2nd Kid Commander Allinthegate Bejarano R

Got a decent run from the inside gate and had the race won with yards to run by just got nosed out in the end. This was a very good effort after his failure in soft ground last time and he looks to have a bright future.

3rd The Grandmaster John Henry Talamo J

This grand sprinter just didn’t have the legs at the end of this race and despite a narrow defeat he lost nothing in defeat and i am sure he will be around for a while yet.

4th Sound Decision Gdp Inc Velez J I

Like the winner he went back from wide which certainly helped as he picked his way through tiring runners to end up fourth. This was a decent effort but i just feel this trip is a little too sharp for him.
