Angelic Appeal Holds Off Chili Time in CT Oaks

CT Oaks GIII

For Three Year Old Fillies

Seven Furlongs Dirt

Purse: $350.000

Welcome back folks to Charlestown West Virginia where on Saturday the GIII CT Oaks took place. We had a field of six fillies go to the gate for this so now lets take a look on how the race broke down.

The winner of the CT Oaks was Angelic Appeal. Going off at odds of 2/1 the filly broke well at the sound of the bell, as E.T Baird sat her fourth three lengths off leader and stable mate Make A Move. Sitting fourth heading into the straightaway E.t got to work on her and the filly picked it up slowly reeling in her stable mate. In the final furlong she pushed to the front holding off a fast closing Chili Time to win by a nose. Winning in a time of 1:21.89 for the 7 furlongs for owner / breeder Mb Stables who brings home first place money and a check for $210.000.

2) Chili Time ~ *1.65 and the favorite for the GIII CT Oaks was looking to build off the nice effort in her last one in the GI Test. Getting away last of the six starts when the doors opened and just three lengths from the front, as Kent Desourmeaux asked her for more at the top of the lane the filly picked it up and the two came running down the lane. With a furlong to go she gave it all she had, but Angelic Appeal held off the fast closing filly leaving her second today by a nose. She went out for owner / breeder Rockitpad. She gets a check for the owner of $84.000.

3) Golden Broomstick ~ 2/1 as well on the board for this one was fifth in her last one in the GI Ballerina, but looking for a better run today. Away fifth of the six at the break and three lengths behind, as she began to pick it up heading into the stretch Mike Smith went to work, but was just a step behind the top two leaving the filly third by a length in this one. She went out for owner / breeder Drabfantasy. She picks up a check for $42.000.

4) Make A Move ~ 5/1 on the board and the second entry of Mb Stables was off to a fast start as she pushed out of the gate and got herself to the lead by a neck. Taking that lead into the stretch Victor Espinoza went to work on her looking to score the wire to wire run, but a few fast closer caught her in the final furlong leaving her fourth beaten by just a length. She picks up a check for her run of $14.000

5) Aguichant ~ 15/1 on the tote board for this GIII event came in a winner of two in a row and was looking to make it three. Away third at the break and just a length off the leader, as she turned for home Jesus Castanon went to the stick and closed within a quarter of a length of the leader, but that was as close as she got as others went by her in the lane leaving her fifth in this one. She went out for owner Maxmillion Farm.

6) Masolina ~ 96/1 and the longest shot on the board were moving back to the main track on Saturday. Getting away second at the sound of the bell, as she made her way into the turn she packed it in and went under the line to finish sixth under Jersey Joe Bravo. She went out for owner Sarah Stables.

This is Choppy I am OUT!
