4 AQU The Fall Highweight Hcp (GIII)
$200.000 3yo&Up 6f Dirt Handicap Weights
I thought Etf Funds would be an “upset special” to watch in The Fall Highweight Hcp (GIII) at AQU on Sunday… well, he got the job done, but when you are the 1.85/1 post time favorite, the word upset can’t be used. The bay gelding, owned by Angelos Stable, raced towards the back of the pack early, continued to work his way forward and went under the wire in front by a half length, stopping the clock in a snappy 1:08.87 for the six furlongs, on a main track listed as Fast. Asset Angel pressed the pace, got clear into the lane but was wrangled at the sixteenth pole and had to settle for the place. Foolish Peasure took the third spot with Stand In Line getting the minor money.
Eft Funds is a 4yo bay gelded son of Asset Class – Anna Strong, by Revolutionary, and he was bred in Cal by Sccj Stables. Acquired by Angelos Stables via the claim box for a mere $5.000, he now has five wins from twenty-one starts, three of those coming this season, and he now shows lifetime earnings of $228,240. Congrats to the connections!

Eft Funds unhurried early, moved forward between horses into the stretch, 5p lane, caught leader at the sixteen pole, pulled away late. Asset Angel broke alertly, on the pace to the lane, disposed of foe to go clear, caught at the sixteenth pole, second best. Foolish Peasure mid-pack early just behind the pace, lost ground into the turn, re-fired 2p, good late effort. Stand In Line wide trip, evenly. Mr Frost trailed early, fanned widest for the drive, passed tiring rivals. Gifted Man just behind the pace to the top of the lane, tired. Im To Chai on the pace to the top of the lane, tired inside.
