History was made here at PIM as for only the second time ever in our virtual world, the same horse won the KYD and the PRK. Now, will the angels in heaven hear the howl at the BEL? Well, they were present to watch, in the form of our MD Sprint Stakes winner, Angelsinheaven, who won part of the PRK undercard for trainer Angelos Stable. This horse was not one of our picks, as I was concerned about the way was dropped down for his prior race. In the end, that would prove to be a non issue, as Angelsinheaven erased any and all doubts with this victory. Congratulations to Angelos Stable and jockey L Contreras, each of whom are first time winners in the race. The time of the victory was 1:08.87, the fastest winning time since 2012. Let’s take a look!

(¼ Mile- :22.63)- Out front,we have two horses jumping out to the lead. At first, it’s Gothic Heart on the lead for SamIam, but by the time they hit a quarter mile, Jinxed Authority has put a head in front for Smokey Stover. Behind them, we have three stalkers, including Scarletandgraystable’s Roots Of Hollywood, who we are sad to say has passed on after the race. To his outside, Angelsinheaven, our eventual winner from Angelos Stable held a good lane on the track. Three wide here was The Crucible, for Night Rider Stables. It is another length to Cp Fascinating Moon (Luz International), and trailing are Code Red Party (Martyparty) and Smugglers Blues (John Henry).

(½ Mile- :45.28, Top Of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Rounding the turn, Jinxed Authority looks very good, sticking to the rail and emerging at the top of the stretch with a half length lead over Gothic Heart. That one was also looking sharp, and it seemed as though they would be strong all the way to the wire. None of the three stalkers could make a move on them yet, but Angelsinheaven was still a length back and would slide over to be able to make a three wide move for the lead if he had the legs underneath him to do so. The Crucible had the same plan, but would need to do so in the fourth lane. Roots Of Hollywood stayed on the rail while running with them. Further back, the others had not made their presence known up to this point.

(Finish- 1:08.87)- In a methodical manner, Angelsinheaven reels in Gothic Heart and completes the pass about midway through the stretch run. Gothic Heart has some fight in him, and this fight would prove worthwhile even if he had nothing for Angelsinheaven. It’s a big win for the Angelos Stable autogen as he inches away to nearly a full length win. Second goes to Gothic Heart, hanging on over the late running Code Red Party. The Crucible is fourth, narrowly over Smugglers Blues. Jinxed Authority really came up empty in the stretch, dropping to sixth, with that potentially inhibiting Roots Of Hollywood’s chances late as he backed into that one, but we’ll never know how that one could have bounced back. Cp Fascinating Moon was a well-beaten horse.

About The Winner- Angelsinheaven, trained by Angelos Stable and riddent to victory by L Contreras is a four year autogen from West Virginia that was created as a yearling. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his fifth in 25 starts, and his second graded win. His career earnings are now $1,015.180.
