Once again this season, the Gr. III All American was unable to attract the attention necessary to draw in the bigger numbers, as we will just have five go postward. The last four seasons we have seen all three year olds take home the top prize, and this season there is just one lone sophomore. This will be the feature event on the Memorial Day card here at GG.
- All American – Grade III Purse $100.000
- Golden Gate Park – For Three year olds and upward
- One Mile Main track

So lets start with that three year old thoroughbred by the name of Top Hat ( Mb Stables ). The trainer was on a high with capturing multiple victories at different tracks this Saturday, especially after missing in some of the previous TC races. Top Hat has gone seven for eight in the money in his career, with four being victories. His most recent was a win in the CA Derby at this very surface, just a sixteenth of a mile longer then today’s event. Has been working over at Santa Anita in prep for this affair, and could very well keep the streak going for this event.
A trainer who has brought a pair of runners for this race is Nolespan Racing with four year old Jakes Last Chance, and five year old Five Little Pigs. With Jakes Last Chance, he has just three career starts, and has not claimed his maiden victory as of yet. His most recent was a run in the Gr. II Californian Stakes where he placed six of six. May need to just take a step back to the maiden special weights and start a building program back to this level. The other entry of Five Little Pigs showed that the fiver that was spent to purchase him didn’t go to waste, as he placed second against a Clm45 group of runners at a pricey 43-1 shot. Earned a 98 SRF number as well, best against this grouping. Worth considering.
The other two entries will be Count Of Boom ( Night Rider Stables ), and First Rebellion ( Hambletonian Stable ). Count Of Boom has been in tough for his last two events, with missing by three lengths in the Gr. I SA Handicap going ten panels, and most recent in the Gr. III TX Mile, he ran pretty much a length out throughout the entire race, finishing fourth. Hopefully the shorter distance will work better for his stretch run. As for First Rebellion, this six year old black is making his escape from the turf to compete here. He has been consistently running milers in his past five starts, with his last three being over this surface. Has become a fan favorite at this track, and he should see some backing at the windows for this race. Dirt works show promise for the return.
