Another Stakes Win is a Rare Coincidence Only in Name for Mb

Henry Championship – Grade II
1 1/4 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Rare Coincidence, trained by Mb Stables
I seem to have written a lot about horses from Mb Stables having a winning chance recently and this was no exception. He looked unbeatable thanks to the three year old dominance this year and in the end he proved to be just that with a facile two length win. Never in doubt he stalked the early lead and strode effortlessly away to win with total control. I guess this win proves what a killer the outside speed push can be because the only blemish on his record was when he shot to the front and weakened in the WO Mile last time. I guess HRP has to get them beat sometimes but you would be a brave man if you wrote this one out of BC Glory.

2nd Still In Check, trained by Kopites
It seems even a claimer can get into the stakes top three as long as its a three year old and this gelding did just that after being claimed last time out. This was a great run for his new owner Kopites but he was no match for his previous stable companion in the end.

3rd Sandor Clegane, trained by Smithtown Stables
Won the separate race for the older horses keeping on well for third and just missing second. This was a good effort in the circumstances but about as good as he could have hoped for.

4th Stormy Passing, trained by C R Racing
The closest rival in the betting he led out of the gate for the first time in years thanks to his wide draw. That pretty much spelt the end of his chances but he could never beat the winner anyway. A gutsy effort by the veteran but not good enough today.
