Antares Squares Off With Anoushka Titan and Six Others in The Buena Vista

Buena Vista Stakes

1 Mile Turf Grade 2     Purse $200.000
For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward –
Santa Anita Park, Arcadia Ca

Antares from Alydar Stables signaled her sharpness by coming down the hill to win the Las Cienegas Stakes with a triple digit number for her 2026 first start. To say that the mare is on edge for this is an understatement. The inside draw adds to the appeal in an eight horse field on this layout. Anoushka Titan from Maxmillion Farm ran second to the top pick in The Goldikova Stakes last November and had a big run in her last start, also on edge for this. Eighteen Ninety Two from Mo Mentum Farm just ran third on this layout in a similar spot. Drawn in the middle and should get a fair shot here. Beach Towel from Winning Link Stables is the upsetter of note. “Towel” has ran back to back third places finishes in tougher spots and before her disappointing Breeder’s Cup run, she ran a monster race to win The First Lady Stakes at Keenland, a Grade 1 at this distance. You have been warned.

Of the rest;

Painville from Mo Mentum Farm is getting a little long in the tooth at eight years old, but still showing plenty of grit and her ability is not questioned. Only concern is when age is going to catch-up with her, and that’s tough to gauge. Has a look certainly and might be a hint of a price.

Fairy Godmother from Greyhound has done nothing wrong since the purchase three starts back. Barn trying to add to her own fairytale story Saturday. Will need lifetime best to score.

Sannys Legacy from Threshold is a closer who’s best races have been on an off track. Regardless, if they go nuts on the pace she will roll late.

Firefish from Noblepark is another four year old that will try to close here. She was taken for $180K at auction and the new connections haven’t found the key to her yet as evidenced by her numbers. Needs career best clearly.
