Audioslave Looks for Five in a Row

                       The Super Derby- GIII (P1)
                        LAD Race 8 1 1/16M- Dirt
                                Purse $300.000
                                Three Year Olds

A group of eight three year olds will be lining up in Bossier City, Louisiana at Louisiana Downs for their biggest race of the year. It has drawn a pretty good field of horses and there is some good jockeys also shipping in to ride the race. Most are coming out of bigger races so they will get some class relief.

1. Mistress Seeker (12-3-1-1 $179.070), trained by Aer Stables

This horse is coming into this race off of an eighth place finish in the Dandy at Saratoga after setting the pace in that race. Before that he won the grade three Affirmed at Santa Anita by a length that day. If he runs the way he did that day it gives him a decent shot but he’ll have to run huge to win.

2. Local Hero (12-2-3-2 $240.480), trained by D J C Racing Stables

This runner from the barn of D J C Racing Stables is also coming out of the Dandy where he finished in tenth place that day. He did make the derby field this year and he ended up finishing tenth that day also. If he runs the race he ran in the Wood Memorial and Derby he can definitely win this race.

3. Di Farley (12-4-1-2 $264.100), trained by Gdp Inc

This horse is coming off of a fifth place finish in the West Virginia Derby. Before that though he did run second in the grade two Indiana Derby and that was one of his best races so far. If he runs like he did in the Indiana Derby he’ll have a very good shot to win and he’ll be tough with that performance.

4. Audioslave (13-5-0-3 $484.680), trained by Alydar Stables

Here is a horse who is coming off of four wins in a row and two of those wins are stakes races. Last out he won the West Virginia Derby over a couple of these rivals. He won that day by a neck and ran the best race of his life and I still think he is getting better with every start. He’s my top pick.

5. Charleys Agent (13-3-4-0 $387.700), trained by Mb Stables

Here is a horse who is very highly thought of but he hasn’t proved it in his last two starts after he won the Pimlico Special. He won that day against older horses and then ran two clunkers in the Ohio Derby and Haskell. He has a lot of talent but he just needs to run his best race and he’ll have a good shot.

6. First Class Living (10-2-2-3 $105.340), trained by Estero Farms

This gelding is coming into this race off of two thirds in a row in graded stakes races against older horses at Monmouth and Mountaineer. If he runs those races again I think he has a good shot because now he is in against just three year old competitors. He has an outside to win in here I think.

7. Snakie Dogfather (9-1-1-1 $66.160), trained by Nakamura Stables

This gelding is coming to this race off of a second place finish in a statebred stakes race last out at Del Mar going seven furlongs. He is going to have to improve and show that he can get around two turns as well as be can go one turn. If he wins I actually be really surprised because he looks overmatched.

8. Quench My Soul (9-4-3-1 $168.880), trained by Mb Stables

Scratched

9. Bad English (13-2-2-3 $280.720), trained by Maxmillion Farm

This horse is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the West Virginia Derby and a win the race before that in the Los Alamitos Derby. He looks like one of the horses to beat also and I will make him my second pick. If he runs like he has been that puts him right there in the money.

Summary

It’s a pretty nice field that is lining up here and I think they are all pretty evenly matched. Audioslave and Bad English look like the top two in the field but I think Charleys Agent is the best on to upset those two runners. Good luck go everyone in the race and let’s hope for an exciting one.
