The PRM Cornhusker Handicap – Grade 3 – $300.000
PRM – 1 1/8 Mile – Dirt
For Three Year Olds And Upward
July 8, 2023
Auger looks like the one to beat in this contest, but if anyone can give him a run for his money it just might be Unsuited Command.
Here’s the field.
1 Unsuited Command (Spankys Barn)
Third in the Salvator Mile (Grade 3) last out. Works look very strong. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this one in the winner’s circle.
2 Absolution (Maxmillion Farm)
Claimed for $25.000 in a winning performance in February. Finished last in his only attempt at graded stakes. Will need a big effort against these.
3 Cherokee Thriller (Axeman)
Comes in off a win in optional claiming company. Before that he hadn’t been to the winner’s circle since September 2022. Big step up for this four-year-old colt.
4 Niners Gold (Night Rider Stables)
Second in the $100.000 All American last start, after winning an optional claimer in NY-bred company. Another one making a big step up.
5 Eagle Mountain (Spankys Barn)
This gelding has changed hands twice since April. His last start was a disappointing seventh in the Cartier Stakes (Grade 3). Will try to redeem himself here but will have a tough time against these.
6 Auger (Barcelona Farms)
Comes here with back-to-back wins, the latest in the $75.000 San Juan Stakes. This five-year-old is going strong with two wins and a third in three starts this year. Good chance he could make it three in a row here.
