Iowa Oaks Too Close to Call

The Iowa Oaks – Grade 3 – $225.000

PRM – 1 1/16 Mile – Dirt

For Fillies Three Years Old

July 8, 2023

This is one of those fields where you could make a case for almost every horse. Some of these fillies are trying stakes for the first time, others are veterans. But all of them deserve to be here.

Here’s the field:

1 Wavy Girl (Saratoga Stud)

CA Oaks winner finished third in the Summertime Oaks (Grade 2) at SA last out. Working very well up to this race. Should be flying late, so will need a good trip.

2 Creepy Lady Party (Martyparty)

Making her stakes debut off of a close second place finish in allowance company at WO last out. Solid allowance filly. Probably won’t contest the early pace but could be there at the wire.

3 Miss Sodfather (Maxmillion Farm)

Tried stakes company twice but was unable to hit the board either time. Coming off a strong second place performance at CD at optional claiming level. Does her best running close to the pace.

5 Avatar (Smokey Stover)

Unsuccessful Grade 1 attempt sandwiched between two very nice performances, Last out she wired a field of seven in allowance company at WO. Could be the speed in the race and wouldn’t be a surprise if she’s still there at the wire.

6 Water Demon (Chili King Stables)

Coming in off a win in the Melair Stakes in CA-bred company. Distance is definitely not a factor for this girl. Did not fare well in open stakes company except for a win in the Island Stakes back in February. Another one who could get win money.
