TC Runners Highlight The CCA Oaks Field
The CCA Oaks will run for the 18th time on Saturday, but I will venture to say that this will be the first time in its history that nearly half of the field ran in at least one of the Triple Crown races.

Dwindle Goes Wire to Wire in Violette
Dwindle’s work times were just a little bit better than everyone else participating in the Violette Stakes at SAR, and that made him one of the top picks for the race. With two year olds, you never know what to expect, but on Wednesday, him being just a little bit better would play out when it mattered, as he went on to win the race by nearly a length.

Two-Year-Olds Take Stage on Wednesday in Violette
Two year old racing at SAR is always very exciting, and the stakes races for them always are must-watch races. As we move into the second week of this great meet, we will get a chance to see juvenile NY breds look to make a name for themselves in the second running of the Violette.

Late Running Folsom Tradition Wins Modesty Stakes
Folsom Tradition has run well since being acquired by Hippyheart in private sales, and that would be enough for her to be made the post-time favorite. I was not as optimistic, being concerned about her last start, but in this case the betting public made the right decision.

Historic Win for La Terrifiant in The Diana
History was made in The Diana on Saturday. La Terrifiant, the race winner on yielding turf, would become the highest female earner in the history of the game, surpassing Darling Harbour for that distinction.

Spiral Snatches The Forbidden Apple in Closing Strides
The Forbidden Apple had the potential to be a good, well balanced race, and we saw that with the oddsboard leading into it. The favorite, Silent Commander, went off at 6/1, and half the field went off at odds between 6/1 and 9/1.

Rules Are Madness May Break Winless Drought in Modesty Stakes
A field of six will be going to post for the 17th running of the Modesty Stakes, a long turf event for fillies and mares. Three year olds are allowed to participate in this, and they enjoy a four point weight advantage.

Full Field Friday for The Forbidden Apple
The starting gate will be full for the seventh running of The Forbidden Apple, a Grade 3 event for older horses on the inner turf. This is a race that was initially held at BEL, and would be at that track for four years before moving upstate in 2020.

Top Turf Stars Show Up for The Diana
The Diana is a great race held at SAR for older females, sending them nine furlongs over the turf course, so it should come as no surprise that this Grade 1 stake has seen some great winners in the past. Twice has a horse won this race in back to back years, with Miz Liz doing so in 2009 and 2010, and then A Little Oblivion accomplishing the feat in 2011 and 2012.

Maya Caribe Outlasts Sancerre to Win The River Memories
The field was small but the distance long for the River Memories as five fillies and mares went to post. Maya Caribe ended up being a pretty big post time favorite for the race, though I was a little skeptical about her getting the full distance.
