  • Techfluence High Brings the Pain in Gamely Win

There’s no denying that Techfluence High has been a successful filly, but after running in the BC last fall, she had hit a cold spell. Last month, she broke out of that slump in a big way right here in the Royal Heroine Stakes, and now in the Gamely, she would make it two in a row!

  • Electric Blue Lights Up The Shoemaker Mile Field

Electric Blue lived up to his name on Monday, being truly electric in winning the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile by a length and a half over some very strong opposition. This gelding has always been able to win a race, but trainer Spankys Barn has taken him to new heights since acquiring him at the end of the year in private sales.

  • Back On Grass, Chaparral Cowboy Prevails in The Pennine Ridge

The last time that Chaparral Cowboy was on the turf, he won the Grade 3 De Mille Stakes at DMR, but after that, he would run on the main track for three straight races. He did not get positive results on the dirt, so it was back to the turf. It turns out that the colt couldn’t have been happier to be back on this surface, as he went on to win the Pennine Ridge.

  • Painville Looks Game for The Gamely Stakes

Female turf horses will get their chance to shine at SA as well, as the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes brings together a field of six for a purse of $300.000. Like we saw with the Shoemaker Mile, this unfortunately represents a purse reduction, as it had been at $400.000 the last two years.

  • Seven Look to Find Their Way in The Shoemaker Mile

When we get to talking about the BC this fall, you can guarantee that there will be mentions of the Shoemaker Mile, a race that always boasts a great field and this year will be no exception. It doesn’t matter that the gate will not be full to capacity, as some of the top horses in this division have made their way to SA as a part of the field of seven.

  • Balanced Field in The Pennine Ridge

On Saturday at AQU, we will have the tenth running of the Grade 2 Pennine Ridge, which is for three year olds on the inner turf and it moves here from BEL. It took a year for the race to receive graded status, and it would become a Grade 2 in 2020. The purse has been constant at $200.000 since inception.

  • One Last Punch Line Cruises to Louisville Win

Sometimes, as much as one horse might seem to be the class of the field in a race, things never work out that way. On Saturday in the Louisville, most the wagering money went to Life Is Beautiful, and for very good reason. However, we run these races for a reason, and it would be a horse that had run most of his races in 2024 at TUP to steal the show.

  • Spring Street Shows Up and Wins The Vagrancy Handicap

The question about Spring Street coming into the Vagrancy Handicap wasn’t whether or not she was capable of winning the race, as certainly she was. Instead, it was whether or not she would show that winning side of her, because we don’t see enough of it. Fortunately for trainer High Voltage, she would be at her best and the resulted in the victory.

  • Hobo Blues Doesn’t Disappoint in The Black Eyed Susan Stakes

Hobo Blues did not miss out on making the KYO field by much, but with none of the horses from that race making the trip to PIM for the Black Eyed Susan Stakes, she seemed like she would have a good shot. She would be our pick, and the betting public agreed, making her the post time favorite for the race.

  • Seven Head to The Gate for The Vagrancy Handicap

It’s time to take a look at the Grade 3 Vagrancy Handicap, which is a sprint for older females that runs for the 20th time. This is traditionally a race at BEL, but like others, it runs at the Big A this year. Purses for the race have historically ranged between $150.000 and $200.000 over the last two decades, so not much has changed here other than the location of the race.
