Previously, we looked at the CT Oaks, so now it’s time to check out the other massive race taking part at everyone’s favorite bullring: the CT Classic. This race first appeared on the schedule in 2010 and has seen some true virtual racing legends get the win. After all, the first two winners were Madhouse and Mrs Bombastic!

Top Two from The Test Battle It Out in CT Oaks
Some of the top three old fillies have made their way to CT for the fourteenth running of the CT Oaks, a seven furlong race that offers a generous $750.000 purse. This is the second year that the race has been classified as a Grade 2, and it is the third year that it has run for that high of an amount.

Fierce Competitor Escapes with Narrow DMR Oaks Win
Seven fillies took part in the DMR Oaks Saturday evening, and the odds for most of them were all very similar, leaving the race to have an up for grabs feel to it. At the end, it would not disappoint, as six of the seven horses finished within a length of one another.

Sweet Caviar Lights Up the Board in The King’s Plate
Some of the best Canadian born three year olds took to the track on Saturday in hopes of taking the top share of the $1,000.000 purse that was offered in the annual King’s Plate. Mo Mentum Farm and Mb Stables entered six of the eleven horses, but the trophy is going home with Asgar, as longshot Sweet Caviar picked up the biggest win of his career.

Schopenhauer Gets MTH Redemption in The Iselin Stakes
Last month, Schopenhauer ran here in the MTH Cup, fresh off a great win in the Grade 2 Eclipse Stakes, and even though he did still go off as a longshot, he seemed to have a great shot. He would not run well, but returned to MTH in hopes of getting redemption in the Iselin Stakes.

Mo Mentum Farm’s commitment to breeding in Canada has made him a dominant trainer in the King’s Plate, as he has won the race in three of the last four years, and four times overall. He’ll be looking to continue that stranglehold on the race, as he brings three to the starting gate.

Seven Looks to Seize Their Opportunity in DMR Oaks
Out west on Saturday, we will have the 22nd running of the DMR Oaks, which is a Grade 1 for three year old fillies on the turf. The race has been a Grade 1 since its inception here, and has seen it’s purse range between $250.000 and $400.000 in that time, though the present $300.000 is the most common amount.

Distant Breeze Looks to Stay Hot in The Iselin Stakes
A small but strong field will be taking part in the Grade 3 Iselin Stakes, run at a mile and a sixteenth on the main track at MTH. The race first appeared on the schedule in 2006, and saw it’s purse fluctuate in the early days before settling in at $250.000 in 2022.

Grand Opening Wins AP Million for Second Time
Prior to Saturday’s running of the AP Million, only two horses had won the stake on mulitple occasions: Bronze Sabre and Dead Madness. Now, Grand Opening has added his name to the list following a two length with at CNL, backing up his performance in 2024.

Statement Win for Bear Head in Secretariat Stakes
It was a big win for Bear Head on Saturday, as the gelding delivered an impressive effort in a three length victory. This was just his second start for Maxmillion Farm after the trainer picked him up in private sales, and he made the most of it!
