Heading to MTH this Saturday for the 19th running of the Salvator Mile, a smaller Grade 3 that will run for a $150.000 purse. Back in the day, this is a race was that dominated by Australia Wide, as the trainer won four in a row between 2008 and 2011, with horses like Whats Up and Madhouse.

Talented Fillies Head to DEL for The DEL Oaks
This Saturday will give us a chance to check out the racing at DEL, as the 20th running of the DEL Oaks takes place, and we will have eight fillies taking part in it. The race began as a Grade 2 for a $500.000 purse, before being downgraded to a Grade 3 in 2015.

On any other day, a field of this stature would be the talk of the day, as the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap was loaded. On Saturday, it was simply part of the undercard, but with many horses who are ordinarily headliners running, a great race was expected.

Rain Doesn’t Stop Exemplary from Winning The Jaipur
The big story of the Jaipur was not necessarily that Exemplary won the race, but all the scratches that took place before hand. A nine horse field was cut to five as just the little bit of virtual rain, downgrading the turf course to good, was enough to see four horses opt for alternatives.

Wasted Away Wins at SAR Again, This Time in The Phipps Stakes
Wasted Away likes it here at SAR, as last year’s KYO winner would finish second in the Acorn, before winning both the CCA Oaks and the Alabama right here at the Spa. Now, she was back on the track again that she has had much success on, and in a very close finish, she would hang on to get the win.

TC Winners Galore in The Metropolitan Handicap
Next up on the SAR schedule on Saturday will be The Metropolitan Handicap, another race that awards an automatic spot into the BC in five months, this one for the Dirt Mile. This is a race that saw the great Alpha Ultimo capture three of the first four editions, and more recently saw So Profound go back to back in 2020 and 2021.

BC Turf Sprint Spot at Stake in The Jaipur
A spot in the BC Turf Sprint is up for grabs as the division as it’s first “Win and You’re In” race at SAR in the 22nd running of the Grade 1 Jaipur. Nine horses will be taking part in the race to not only try to get into the BC, but also take the top portion of the $500.000 purse.

Balius Survives Late Push to Win The Shawnee
The Shawnee would be a close race all the way to the end, but that did not stop us from having a wire to wire winner, as Balius at one point jumped out to a two length lead before having her trainer, Threshold, yell for the wire to hurry up and get there.
