  • The PRK Has No Real Drama in the Stretch

It was time for the PRK, and race fans would make KYD winner Extreme Jet a heavy favorite in the Pick ‘em. He’d be one of seven horses in the race that also ran two weeks ago, so there would be questions about how they would handle the other seven in the field that had more rest.

  • Christmas In May for Ello Santa in The Dinner Party Stakes

Five horses would take part in the Dinner Party Stakes, and many people expected a showdown between Ello Santa and Grand Opening, as the two took 75% of the selections in the Pick ‘em. This corrected the morning line odds seeing otherwise, and these two would end up taking the top two positions in a tightly contested race.

  • Reorganize Earns Convincing Gallorette Win

The Gallorette Stakes would be just the third race for Reorganize since she won the Mrs Revere at CD six months ago. While she didn’t win either of the starts after it, there was nothing wrong with her effort in either, and she seemed like one of the top choices here at PIM on Saturday.

  • Presenting The Field For The 2025 PRK

As early as October 2023, and lasting throughout the year in 2024, trainers bred horses with the dream of creating a TC champion in 2025. From there, we watched them grow, and the biggest contenders would soon begin to make themselves known. Months of prep races to begin this year would separate the best of the best, and a field of 20 would head to the starting gate for the KYD.

  • Who’ll Power Their Way to a Gallorette Stakes Win?

Saturday’s great card at PIM will include the 21st running of the Gallorette Stakes, a Grade 3 on the turf for three year old females and upward. Conditions have been consistent over the two decades that the race has been run, with purses either being $100.000 or $150.000.

  • Grand Opening Time at The Dinner Party Stakes

It’s party time at PIM on Saturday, but before we can get to the PRK, invitations were sent out to five horses that will be taking part in the 21st running of the Dinner Party Stakes, a Grade 3 on the turf at a mile and an eighth.

  • Street Sounds Denies Michael Jordan at “Buzzer” to Win Cinema Stakes

Bigchief Stables picked up Street Sounds in the December auction, and all had been going well for the colt until his last race down at GP. There were not many people worried about that result, but if there was any doubt that would be erased in the Cinema Stakes, as Street Sounds prevailed in a photo to pick up the win.

  • Piatt Prevails in Stretch to Win Mamzelle

Saturday would finally be Piatt’s day. The three year old filly had been a close second or third several times at the ungraded level, and always seemed to run a good race every time she hit the track. However, a stake victory had been something that had eluded her.

  • No Clear Favorite in Cinema Stakes

This Mother’s Day at SA, seven three year olds will be taking part in the eighth running of the Cinema Stakes. This race loses some distance in 2025, as it was a mile and a quarter for the last two years, and a mile and an eighth in the years before that.

  • Shine To Class Hopes to Stay Perfect in Mamzelle

Taking place on Saturday is a first time graded stake: the $225.000 Mamzelle at CD. This race debuted on our calendar in 2004, but had a lengthy hiatus between 2008 and 2019. Until now, it’s always been ungraded, but now this turf sprint for three year old fillies is officially a Grade 3.
