  • Max Party Goes Wire to Wire in Big Daddy

Away from the bright lights of the more well known races on Saturday, the Big Daddy took place at TP for just the second time. Surprisingly, Max Party went off as the second longest shot on the board at 14/1, though he was among our picks.

  • Wavy Girl Shines in Stretch to Win The Azeri

Out at SA, we saw Wasted Away, the winner of the BC Distaff run for the first time in 2025. In the Azeri, we had Wavy Girl, another one that ran in the BC Distaff, make her third start in six weeks. The result: layoff or a busy schedule, it doesn’t matter as they both are winners today.

  • Wasted Away’s Dominance Continues with Beholder Mile Win

After her dominant three year old season that saw her win both the KYO and the BC Distaff, among others, Wasted Away returned to the race track after some well deserved time off to make her four year old racing debut. This filly by Fire N Fury had not been wasting away over the last four months and successfully took care of business in the Beholder Mile just like we are used to her doing.

  • Looking for a Big Daddy at TP

For the second time, the Big Daddy will be held at TP. This is an ungraded stake at six furlongs for older turf horses on the main track, and it draws a field of nine.

  • Wasted Away Makes 2025 Debut in Beholder Mile

The Beholder Mile is the weekend’s lone Grade 1, taking place at SA for older females on the main track. It takes place for the 20th time this year, and for the tenth time here at SA after previously being held at HOL. The $300.000 purse has been common for the race in general, but it is a reduction from the $500.000 that we saw in 2022 and 2023.

  • Present Tense to Defend Her Azeri Crown Against Tough Foes

A strong field of nine, featuring six horses that have earned over $1,000.000 in their careers, will be taking part in the 20th running of the Azeri at OP. This is a race that debuted as a Grade 3 in 2005, and was upgraded in 2014, and that is where the classification has been ever since.

  • Electric Blue Is Right at Home at SA; Wins Kilroe Mile

Electric Blue certainly loves it when he ends up at SA, and in the Kilroe Mile, he would make it a perfect 3-for-3 at this race track, with all of those wins being graded victories. Last time he was here, he won the Shoemaker Mile, a Grade 1, in May, and that was also the last time that he had won a race.

  • Bigchief Stables Captures SA Handicap with No More Rattle

We haven’t seen a lot of No More Rattle, as the six year old gelding was only making his sixth start since 2022, but he has made the most of the races he has been in. Coming into race off a third place run in the Hooper, he seemed like one of the top choices in the field and was the race’s post time favorite.

  • Expert Trip Creates a Lunar Victory in GP Mile

Big names were entered into the GP Mile, and they would not disappoint in the race, taking three of the top four spots. Getting the win would be Lunar Victory, the reigning BC Dirt Mile winner, for Mb Stables. It is his first win for the trainer since he was acquired in the December auction.

  • It’s Bear Head Over Read Neck in Colonel Liam

It’s another party for Martyparty in the Colonel Liam, as the trainer picked up his second win in the race, last year using Crickets and this year bringing Bear Head. This gelding has just recently been moved to the grass, winning the Texas Turf Mile five weeks ago, and now going 2-for-2 on the surface here in the Colonel Liam.
