  • No Surprises in Lukas Classic as Individuation Gets the Win

Individuation was the big name at the Grade 2 Lukas Classic at CD on Saturday, headlining the field of six and seeming to be the one to beat. In the end, there would not be any surprises as Individuation did indeed win the race. However, it did not come easy at all, as the reigning BC Classic champion found himself involved in a three-way photo at the wire.

  • Spankersville Overpowers the Field in Stretch to Win The Woodward

It was a wet afternoon at AQU on Saturday, and that would lead to scratches throughout the raceday card. In the Woodward, it would cost us both our pre-race pick, Anna Da Artist, as well as Sensei. Neither have performed well on wet tracks, so the decision for each to scratch was likely not a difficult one.

  • Miss Grillo Provides a Look at Many Promising Fillies

The action for two year olds at AQU continues on Sunday with the running of the Grade 2 Miss Grillo, which will automatically send its winner into the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. That will mean that the starting gate is full for the 20th running of the race. Like the Pilgrim, it took a little while for the status of the race to grow, and it would officially earn its Grade 2 designation in 2018.

  • Twelve Hope to Follow Quiet Return’s Lead in The Pilgrim

This Sunday at AQU, a group of twelve two year olds will hit the track for The Pilgrim with the hopes of winning the ticket to the BC Juvenile Turf while scoring the winner’s share of the $200.000 purse. The race first appeared in 2004 with modest conditions, and not even a $100.000 purse, but in 2008 it would become a Grade 3, and then took the next step in 2020.

  • Fiddlestyck Looks Good for Eddie D Stakes

The gate is full to capacity for Saturday’s running of the Eddie D Stakes, a Grade 2 event which is being held for 20th time. In all but one of those years, the race has been held at SA, but in 2010, it was held at HOL. In 2004, it was run for $100.000, and it would stay there for fifteen years before being increased to the present $200.000 level.

  • Nine Have Big Aspirations in City of Hope Mile

Next up, we’ll be taking a look at the Grade 2 City Of Hope Mile from SA. This is a turf race that runs for the 17th time, after debuting in 2005, but taking a couple years off during the previous decade. There will be nine headed to the starting gate and they will be able to provide us with an entertaining race.

  • California Sun Could Be a Fitting Winner of SA Sprint Championship

With the BC Sprint now just a month away, we’re still looking to see who some of the biggest challengers may be to Retaliate within this division. The SA Sprint Championship will send a field of ten to the starting gate, and there aren’t any soft spots anywhere within this field, so get ready for a competitive race.

  • Final BC Classic Qualifier Runs Saturday with Awesome Again Stakes

It’s time for the final “win and you’re in” race for the BC Classic as the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes takes place from SA. A group of eleven horses are looking to either capitalize on this final shot to get into the race, or to cement themselves as one of the top choices for the Classic, which will take place now in just a little over a month right here at SA.

  • Competitive Field Lined Up for The Woodward

A strong field of nine will be headed to the starting gate for what is listed by the game as being just the sixth running of the Grade 1 Woodward. The race debut in 2005, but supposedly took a long hiatus between 2006 and 2020 before reappearing in 2021 to be won by Splash Mountain.

  • Individuation And Crack Dab Headline Lukas Classic

The field may not be large for the Lukas Classic, but this Grade 2 from CD will provide us some pretty big names, including both Individuation and Crack Dab. Altogether, there are only six horses going to post, but this has never been a race to draw a large field even with it having appealing conditions.
