Atomic Eclipse Wins Poker Stakes for Second Time
The Poker Stakes got the day started at BEL on Saturday, and we would have a repeat winner of the race as the 2021 Poker Stakes winner, Atomic Eclipse, made it two out of three this year. We dropped the ball in the preview by overlooking that he had won this race two years ago, doing so previously as a member of La Canada Racehorses.

Proud Bo Outlasts Hammerfest to Win The BEL Gold Cup
Last year, the combination of TwinTowersRacing and J R Velazquez hooked up to win the BEL Gold Cup, and now a year later, they have done it again! Getting the honors this time is Proud Bo, a four year old gelding that has not won a lot as of yet in his career but there is plenty of time for him to change that.

Eleven Look to Win the Pot in The Poker Stakes
We continue to look at the action on the big day at BEL Saturday by taking a look here at the 19th running of The Poker Stakes, which is a Grade 3 for older horses, sending them on a mile on the grass.

Full Field of Fourteen in Metropolitan Handicap
The final jewel of the TC is not the only major race taking place at BEL, as there are six Grade 1’s with half of them having major implications for the BC. Here we will look at the Metropolitan Handicap, a “win and in” race for the BC Dirt Mile with a nice $1,000.000 purse to be divided up between the top four finishers.

Winter Solstice Hopes for Golden 50th Start in The BEL Gold Cup
There will be plenty of excitement at BEL this weekend, with several entertaining races on Friday getting us started for the bigger day on Saturday. Among those races will be the ninth running of the BEL Gold Cup, which is for older turf horses that like to just keep going and going with a twelve furlong distance.

Regulatory Edges Five Shot Party at the Wire in The Audubon
Since being moved to the grass, Regulatory had been running a lot better, and seemed like he would be one of the top choices for the race. He was our second choice, and we were looking forward to an entertaining rematch between he and Details Matter. Only one of them would show up, and that would be the Mb Stables- trained entry that went off at unexpectedly high odds of 10/1.

Bronze Bomber Makes It Look Too Easy in Arlington Stakes
There was every reason to like Bronze Bomber in the Arlington Stakes, especially when considering that he had scored two triple digit SRF’s in his prior two starts. That would make him our pick in the preview, and the bettors at the track would also find him to be the most appealing option.

Demon Too Hot for Rest of Aristides BC Field to Handle
The Aristides BC seemed like a race that would be up for grabs, but Demon would make sure there was no doubt about who the best horse in the field actually was. He was the post time favorite, as well as being our pick to win, but I was surprised to see just how heavily bet that he was.

The Aristides BC Will Be Up For Grabs
The Aristides BC is one of the races taking place at CD on Saturday, and will give us a field of six older horses going six furlongs on the main track. It has not always excluded three year olds, though, as from 2003 through 2018, those horses were allowed to participate.

Threshold Hopes Bronze Bomber Is Golden in Arlington Stakes
Six horses have made their way to CD for Saturday’s running of the Arlington Stakes, which is a turf event that runs a little more than a mile. This race will be remembered more for being run at AP, being contested there from 2005 until 2021. The closure of that track did not mean the end of the race, as it was moved here to CD last year.
