Zalinda Does One Better in This Year’s Canadian Stakes
Last year, Zalinda appeared in the Canadian Stakes and barely missed out on the win, losing by a nose at the wire. Threshold’s stable star would return here to try and finish the job, and she seemed like one of the top horses in a very balanced field.

Strong Mix Of Horses Taking Part in Canadian Stakes
Not all of the great races on Saturday are being held at KD, as WO also looks to get in on the fun with the 18th running of the Canadian Stakes. This is a nine furlong race held on the grass for female horses and offers a $200.000 purse.

Can Maggie Greene Be Beat in Ladies Marathon?
Last year, an already great racing weekend at KD saw the addition of the Ladies Marathon, giving fillies and mares that want to run more than just the mile that was possible in the KD Turf Cup, a chance to show their skills. The race last year ran for a $550.000 purse, but will now be one of the $1,000.000 races that are run here on Saturday.

Gate Nearly Full for KD Turf Cup
All eyes will be on KD this weekend, with a tremendous slate of racing with six stakes running for purses of at $1,000.000. Among those is the 11th running of the KD Turf Cup, which sends its field the maximum distance of twelve furlongs while providing a ticket to the BC Turf for its winner.

Individuation Convincingly Wins Pacific Classic
Capping off an exciting Saturday of racing would be the running of the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, which interestingly featured eight of its ten runners coming out of the Whitney at SAR, especially when they could have stayed there for the JC Gold Cup. An automatic spot in the BC Classic was at stake and it is now official that the reigning champion of that race will be able to defend his title.

American Generals Has No Problem Running Long in DMR Mile Win
Just two months ago, American Generals was making his turf debut while running for $25.000 tag. He would win that race, and then won an allowance last month. In the DMR Mile, he would be making his graded stake debut and also running long for the first time.

With Untidy, Mb Stables Wins Graded Stake #1000 in The Flower Bowl
Last week, Mb Stables got closer to the 1,000 graded stake victory milestone, getting to 998 such wins. With many good horses going this weekend, he would seem to have a very good shot at picking that up now, it would just be a matter of when and where. In the 6th race at SAR, Bay The Lady picked up win #999, putting us on the edge of our seats in knowing that it could happen in any race from this point.

Eight Whitney Runners Battle It Out Again in Pacific Classic
Over its history, the Pacific Classic has seem some truly great horses end up in the winner’s circle. From Icicle in 2005, we’ve also seen Barbarino, Nile Warrior, Ginger Haggis, and Graveyard score the victory. Last year, the winner did something that none of them ever did before, as Combat Wombat won the Pacific Classic for the second time.

DMR Mile Draws a Field of Five
A small field of five will make their way to the starting gate for the 18th running of the DMR Mile, which is a Grade 2 event on the turf. The race debuted on our schedule in 2006 with a $400.000 purse, and saw Billy Nomates take home the win. Since then, other winners of the DMR Mile have included Victory Rain, Duke Or Earl, and even La Terrifiant, who beat the boys in 2021.

Untidy May Be Tough to Beat in The Flower Bowl
There’s a lot more than a bowl of flowers on the line at SAR on Saturday, as a field of six goes to post in the Grade 2 Flower Bowl, hoping to clinch their spot in the BC Fillies and Mares Turf in a couple months while earning a the top share of a nice $500.000 purse.
