  • Deep Field Ready to Go in Crosby Stakes

A spot in the BC Sprint is on the line at DMR on Saturday, as the 20th edition of the Crosby Stakes will be going to post. This Grade 1 event has seen some great winners in the past, including two horses that did so twice: Sweeper in 2011 and 2013, and then Z One Chance in 2018 and 2019. Also a past winner was a nine year old Alpha Ultimo in 2009 in what was his next to last career victory.

  • Another Mb Stables Stake Win: This Time Miss Fury in Coronation Cup

It was a good day for Mb Stables at the Spa on Friday, as after winning the Wilton, he would back that up with a victory in the Coronation Cup as Miss Fury got the job done, winning by about a length over Deaf Luna.

  • Black Book Survives at Wire to Win Wilton

In her last race, Black Book was left behind at the start and did not show enough in the stretch to make the closing tactic work for her. It was just her fourth career start, and trainer Mb Stables was clearly not worried about it by entering her in the Wilton.

  • Purple Charger Takes Charge Of The Schuylerville

Just eight days ago, on the fifth of July, Fractious and Our Athletes executed a private sales transaction that would see Fractious get the talented filly Purple Charger in exchange for $550.000. Such a purchase can be high risk, high reward when talking about two year old fillies in July, but for the moment it certainly looks like Fractious got himself a great one.

  • Deaf Luna Should Be Strong Favorite in Coronation Cup

This Friday at Saratoga, we will have the twelfth running of the Coronation Cup, which is a turf sprint for three year old fillies. It has always been a smaller ungraded stake here at the Spa, beginning with a $100.000 purse in 2012 before getting slight increases in 2021 and 2022 to its current level of $150.000.

  • Wilton Draws a Field of Ten

The Wilton is a small ungraded stakes by SAR standards that takes place on the main track for three year old fillies. It is just the second year that the race has been in existence here at the Spa, with last year’s running also having a $135.000 purse.

  • Top Contenders Draw Outside Posts for The Schuylerville

Welcome to Saratoga for another year of fabulous racing! The first stake of the meet will be the 20th running of the Grade 3 Schuylerville, which is for two year old fillies. With the stake season just getting underway for two year olds, there are plenty of opportunities for younger horses to make a name for themselves here at the Spa.

  • Bombing For Peace Hits Her Target with BEL Oaks Win

The Grade 1 BEL Oaks was one of the highlights on the day that closed out the summer meet here. With the BC Fillies and Mares Turf four months away, this race always proves to be impactful even if it is not classified as one of the “win and you’re in races”.

  • Eight West Party Pulls Off a Suburban Surprise

It’s safe to say that I didn’t see this coming in the Suburban, but neither did most of the bettors, as Eight West Party was a 16/1 longshot for the race and only two other horses had longer odds.

  • Love Of The Derby Hangs on to Win The Manila

There was plenty to love about the Grade 3 Manila heading into the race, starting with the new purse for the race, more than double what it had been previously. For Mb Stables, there was alot more to love after the race as his budding star, Love Of The Derby took home the win in what was a close finish at the wire.
