Late Running Folsom Tradition Wins Modesty Stakes
Folsom Tradition has run well since being acquired by Hippyheart in private sales, and that would be enough for her to be made the post-time favorite. I was not as optimistic, being concerned about her last start, but in this case the betting public made the right decision.

Historic Win for La Terrifiant in The Diana
History was made in The Diana on Saturday. La Terrifiant, the race winner on yielding turf, would become the highest female earner in the history of the game, surpassing Darling Harbour for that distinction.

Spiral Snatches The Forbidden Apple in Closing Strides
The Forbidden Apple had the potential to be a good, well balanced race, and we saw that with the oddsboard leading into it. The favorite, Silent Commander, went off at 6/1, and half the field went off at odds between 6/1 and 9/1.

Twice has a horse won this race in back to back years, with Miz Liz doing so in 2009 and 2010, and then A Little Oblivion accomplishing the feat in 2011 and 2012.

Maya Caribe Outlasts Sancerre to Win The River Memories
The field was small but the distance long for the River Memories as five fillies and mares went to post. Maya Caribe ended up being a pretty big post time favorite for the race, though I was a little skeptical about her getting the full distance.

Devil Made Me Doit Makes Maxmillion Farm a BEL Derby Invitational Winner
For a trainer with an impressive record on the turf, the BEL Derby Invitational trophy was a noteworthy omission from Maxmillion’s collection. He may not have had to make a deal with the devil to change that, but on Saturday, his horse Devil Made Me Doit would allow him to find peace, as he won the headbob with Found Peace at the wire.

Dawning Ice Age Hopes to Show She Still Has It in The River Memories
A small field has assembled at BEL on Sunday for the seventh running of The River Memories, a race that allows older females who love to keep running on the grass a chance to run for a nice purse while possibly avoiding the superstars of the division.
