This Saturday at CD, we will have some KYO points on the line in the 20th running of the Golden Rod. It’s not a lot, with ten points going to the winner, but you never know in May if we will be in a position where one or two points earned a couple days after Thanksgiving might be what gets a horse into that race.

Somehow A Longshot, Black Moon Concerto Wins Arnaz Stakes
The last time that Black Moon Concerto was on the track, it was in the Grade 1 Alcibiades, and while she did only finish fifth in the race, it was against a much stronger field than she would be meeting in the Arnaz Stakes. She had otherwise been good, we made her our pick to win.

Arnaz Stakes Only Draws Six
There will be six fillies going to post for the fifteenth running of the Arnaz Stakes, a race that debuted in 2004 at HOL, but has not been run every year. This stake, for some odd reason, never seems to pull a big field over it’s history and that confuses me given the extra importance of two year old racing within our game.

Getting Better with Age, Junior Wins The Bet On Sunshine
At seven years of age, Junior was one of the senior horses in the field, and would be making the 47th start of his career. Over that period, he has won nine times and with most of those happening at high level tracks, he’s earned quite a bit. He had won a stake before, but in The Bet On Sunshine, he would pick up the signature win of his career.

Late Move Gives Komodo G CC Jewel Win
In the CC Jewel, most of the horses in the field had plenty of experience. Then, there was Komodo G, a Centerpiece colt that had only made two starts in his career. Both were in maiden claimers, making him just as eligible as anyone else in the field. On Saturday, this youngster pulled off the win, at odds of 21/1 for trainer Acber Farms.

One Man Show Makes CC Canterbury a One-Horse Show
Coming into the CC Canterbury, One Man Show was hot, winning three of his last five as he and trainer Spankys Barn hope to rediscover the form that was able to get the gelding into the BC Turf Sprint back in 2020. That will take more than just winning this race, but it could serve as another step forward to getting back there.

Full Field to Bet On Sunshine This Sunday
On Sunday at CD, the Bet On Sunshine will be going to post for the eighth time. It debuted in 2012 as a smaller ungraded stake, and did not run for a triple digit purse until 2019. As such, it has not run every year.

Nine Look to Sparkle in CC Jewel
The biggest purse of the day for the CC races comes in the CC Jewel, where $175.000 is up for grabs between the top four finishers. To be eligible for this race, a horse had to have been entered for a $35.000 claiming price, or less, since the beginning of 2021.
