Back Class from BC Champ Proves to Much in Waya Stakes

On Whitney day the weather was perfect so the track came up fast and firm, which had to make the owners of these long distance turf horses happy. As all 5 of the horses pulled into the starting gate the bettors were having a hard time separating the horses as all were between 2-1 and 6-1. As the gates sprung open all of the horses appeared to get out in good order. But Broomsticks Copy and Whiskey Wings decided that they wanted to hook up on the lead with Mover N Shaker behind them in 3^rd. Broomsticks Copy led the first 2 furlongs but was then passed along the inside by Whiskey Wings as she was head strong for the lead. Mover N Shaker was still sitting back in the 3^rd spot. Through 4 furlongs there was no change in the top pair and they were going at each other. Mover N Shaker was still narrowly holding 3^rd but Ms Gummybear had almost pulled alongside her. Halfway through the race the top 2 still were unchanged but Ms Gummybear had pulled into third but the danger horse at the back of the field appeared to be Onorata Rodiana who appeared to be hitting her best stride. With 4 furlongs to go Broomsticks Copy made her move and passed Whisky Wings who appeared to be tiring. Onorata Rodiana had also started to make her move and was now in third place and taking dead aim at these leaders, the question was will she be fast enough to get there. When these horses hit the ¼ pole the running order was unchanged and there was going to be a mad dash for the wire. Would Broomsticks Copy be able to hold off the fast charging Onorata Rodiana who was still in 3^rd but close to a tiring Whiskey Wings. The mad dash to the wire was an epic battle but the wire got their just in time for the Breeders Cup champ against the ever so game Onorata Rodiana who came up just a nose short today. Ms Gummybear ran on and passed the fading pace setter Whisky Wings to get 3^rd. The owners of the winner and 2^nd place finisher have to be thrilled with the results and I hope I get to see them do battle again in the future.
