Bold Venture Stakes – Grade III
6 1/2 Furlongs Graded Stake Purse $150.00 Three-Year-Olds And Upward. At WO
1st Barbaric Mb Stables 9-2 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)
Like I said, I do like a horse on a run, and this makes four in a row for Barbaric. Too bad I didn’t place him first instead of sixth; I would have looked a tad smarter. He pulled this off just about the same as all the other races in this string, push the pace along early and grab the lead coming home and Bob’s your uncle. He keeps improving like this and a couple of BC Sprint wins from now, and he will make a gorgeous triple ideal sprint stallion.
2nd Hurricane Ridge The Sidley Stud 6-1 (HRP) 10-1 (SRF)
His improved year continues for Hurricane Ridge with a courageous battle that yielded a close second in fast time after he took over the lead from Barbaric but couldn’t hold the return challenge of that one.
3rd Pirate Bounty Winning Link Stables 8-1 (HRP) 6-1 (SRF)
Claimed for this race, Pirate Bounty changed from his normal recent tactics of running on or near the lead; he laid well back for the first half then moved into the fray at the top of the stretch, but found the battle for the lead to be too challenging to break through and settled for third.
4th Imposing Scenario The Sidley Stud 14-1 (HRP) 20-1 (SRF)
This is three straight fourth place finishes for Imposing Scenario all by a length with some pretty big SRF numbers. It’s really hard to say a horse is struggling when he closes from tenth four lengths back to fourth one length back in a Grade III race.
